I have had a ticket open on this for some days but not heard anything yet and as my X1C is rendered pretty much useless I thought I’d share the story and see if anyone else has suffered similarly.
Annoyingly I can’t recall if the first incident was just before or after the 01.07 firmware update, but it may have been just before, and I’m hoping that people can see the issue here and maybe confirm that the update could or wouldn’t cause this, though it’s first-layer related so my frazzled brain is struggling to work it out…
These are the boxes I’m printing, Orca slicer, never been a problem, made with Bambu Labs PLA and with Sunlu PLA+ Silk,on a patterned PEI bed.
I abort as there are tears appearing. This goes on.
I then dry out all my filaments, clean all plates and change the hotend. Factory reset and recalibrate.
I get…
I begin to compose my ticket to BL and gather these photos and run another print on my other patterned PEI plate with Sunlu PLA+Silk while I do this. Behold…
I’m baffled. So I change nothing and send exactly the same print to the X1C again.
I’ll spare you the photos but It fails. One print will work fine then the same print will fail. It’s like some element is working intermittently, heating up correctly for one prints first layer but not the very next one. And it does seem to be just the first layer, the pressure tower model on Orca’s calibration test printed a rather messy first layer but printed the rest perfectly.
Interested in narrowing it down to the bed, the hot end, some thermostat problem or possible Z-alignment error from firmware, thoughts appreciated.
I have a bit same problem, with the 2nd layer. Everything is the same, I often print the same model (ikea samla box inserts) and since the 1.07 update it sometimes works perfectly and sometimes not at all. However, only on the 2nd layer with me. no matter what I try or investigate, it remains the fact that it must be a firmware problem.
(and yes, everything is cleaned and serviced, the filament is always the same pla from sunlu/jayo - calibrated - and always dried for 6 hours in my dryer)
Same problem here! Printed several perfect prints and all of a sudden they are all bad.
Cleaned everything, calibrated, self diagnostic, lead screws, bed tension screws etc…
PLA Cool plate
My guess for what it’s worth is some fluctuation in the nozzle heat as the filament extrudes. On a good print it’s heated correctly but next print it’s extruding at the wrong temp.
One thing I’ve noticed, and I’d be interested to know if this happens with the other posters with the same problem is that after it prints the outer frame perfectly well it then starts to fill in the first layer from one corner and I can see the filament oozing thickly, almost bubbling as it is laid out. This is with any pla brand, all dried out, bed levelled, everything.
After 3 badly failed prints today bang…I got a perfect print. Next print was, of course a rippled mess. Baffled.
I do have kinda the same issue. I think after the last FW upgrade the printer stopped working as it should. And the first layer always fails.
I’ve cleaned the plate, tried the smooth one, cleaned the hotend/nozzle etc. but it’s never gotten any better. And of course did the recalibration and diagnostics.
