Visibility Combo vs Laser Combo

Just wondering if anyone had a chance to work with both and if someone can compare the visibility - as in, looking into the door checking out the print - between the combo coloured door and green laser one ?

I ordered the laser but not intend to use the laser for a while and I see Bambu sells the parts reasonbly affordable.

Was even considering sides but that seems quite labour intensive to replace.

Thoughts ?

I really only cared about the main door, so I just ordered a replacement one of those. When I have the machine in hand, I guess I’ll make a call on the side windows since you have to replace the whole panel.

I had a look at the replacement wiki for the side panels - not sure I want to do so much to a new machine, but I did order all three … left, right and front …

I presume the top glass is ā€˜normal’ dark rather than green ? As it doesn’t seem to have a spare green one in the store.

Correct, top glass isn’t green, just very dark.

From what I’ve seen in videos it’s not terrible to look through, but definitely not as appealing. I think swapping out the front glass is going to be enough for visibility, especially with the better lighting and all. I also took the same path as @Asynchronism and ordered a normal glass door to swap out. Probably won’t take more than a minute or two extra when preparing to use the laser to exchange them

I guess I should have looked that up, I just saw it was the whole panel and thought that seemed excessive. Now if we could just get our machines in hand to actually see how it looks…

The green is not glass - I checked with BL. It’s polycarbonate plastic. So if you want glass you have to buy the non-laser one. I don’t think they are making this all that clear on their website.

That’s a big reason I wanted the regular front door, I think a plastic one seems like it will be cheap feeling, and louder when it’s printing. Sounds dumb, but I really like the solid feel of the glass door on my X1E.

Some reviewers mentioned that the green doors also wobble when you open them, unlike glass

Yes agree. Would prefer glass. And I’m not interested in mixing laser ā€œmessā€ with 3D printing so it works fine IMO

I ordered the regular spare door and side panels for my laser H2D and decide after I changed the door how stupid it looks with green sides and whether the hassle is worth it. I won’t use the laser for a long time yet so it may or may not be worth it

I just noticed you can order just the side glasses. Did that. But I bet it still requires removing the sides. The link to the wiki gives a 404 ATM so can’t check.

possibly you could get a glass door and then something like this to put on it?

Edit: Have no idea about heat constraints.

Edit-Edit: And there are several other companies doing this.

Looks like they do have a top plate

$44.99 USD

They also sell just the glass inserts for the sides now, I don’t believe that was there when I ordered my door.

My door came, it’s enormous compared
to the X1E. Now I have 2% of an H2D!

When using the laser with the glass door the visibility should be better but short lived

It’s bigger than the A1 XD

It’s sad all us laser people have to share are door pictures
