Wall thickness versus 3d fusion model size

help in understanding wall thickness.

fusion 360, if i make a wall at 0.6 mm
then, then brng STL into bambu

i use 0.2 mm layers. it has WALL setting of 0.42
slicer shows me it is printing two walls

is it printing 0.42 mm walls, so my actual printed wall thickness is 0.84, or does it reduce one of the walls so that i actualy get 0.6 totall wall thickness?

any clarification appreciated
thanks

When printing there is an overlay between adjacent lines, so the total with is not a multiple of line width.
The slicer will use this feature and extrusion quantity to create the 0.6 wall.
You can adjust this overlay in the slicer.

“just a suggestion create something like this in Fusion, print it then measure it.”

10x10x0.6 on printing, you’ll find it’s 0.6mm

to both of you, thanks for reply.
i’ll experiment with it some more.
and have a great day !

I finally got around to doing the experiment – put a 20mm cube in the slicer and a 18.8mm “negative part” inside it, giving me 0.6mm walls all around.

With the “Classic” wall generator, the walls indeed come out at 0.80–0.82mm.
With the “Arachne” wall generator, the walls come out at 0.60–0.62mm.
