I feel your pain. I’ve had this same thing happen after forgetting to reseat the PTFE tub into the head on a PS1.
It’s been awhile since this happened but I think I remember using the “Filament unload” function to respool the filament.

Unlike @JonRaymond , it was after a mid-print heat creep troubleshooting and I caught it quickly.
I could just manually push it in bit by bit and the buffer took care of the AMS pull-back.
But with that amount of filament…
