Hi,
I’m using a P1S, and everything was working fine. I was printing some ABS GF, but when I switched back to normal white ABS, I started seeing this weird pattern. I’m using the same settings I always use for normal ABS, which usually work fine, but not anymore.
I dried the filament for more than 12 hours and slowed down the print speed, but the problem persists. However, when I switched back to PLA (green), it worked perfectly. with the same settings, and it worked fine as well.
Do you have any ideas? Could my filament be bad? I also have some photos if that helps.
When was the last time you cleaned the carbon rods?
If you frequently print with ABS or ASA filaments, volatile substances can build up in the printer and on the carbon rods. This accumulation leads to an increase in resistance of the carbon rods, resulting in a decline in printing quality.
It is advisable to clean the carbon rods after every 5 rolls (5 kg) of ABS or ASA printing. However, if you notice a decrease in print quality or observe ribbing/vibration artifacts on the external walls of the prints, it is recommended to clean the carbon rods at that time as well.
Looks like a flow issue to me. Over-extruding a bit, or too hot (or maybe too low) an extrusion temp, or some combination of these maybe.
“It printed fine last week” does not in any way guarantee it’ll print fine this week. Environmental conditions change. Besides the humidity level, ambient temperatures can also matter. If it’s hotter or colder in the room with the printer, unless you take steps to prevent it the chamber is going to be hotter or colder by about the same amount…
Hello, no, I used the regular extruder and nozzle. It’s fiberglass and not carbon, so on the website, it doesn’t say it’s mandatory. Do you think it’s having a hard time extruding because I used ABS GF? With PLA, it worked fine, and even ABS before, but now with ABS, I’m getting this pattern.
Here is an image of my ABS GF print now, using the same settings as the green PLA and ABS prints. is texture normal ? (it’s not supposed to be fuzzy skin)
I have some nylon with glass fibers and I know from personal experience when printing that material it throws a flag about the need to have a hardened nozzle so Bambu is treating GF as abrasive. If you are just clicking throught that alert thinking it is okay because fiberglass, not carbon fiber, that is a mistake.
You need hardened steel for cabon fiber AND fiberglass.
