Weird amount of defects in my print

this is the gridfinity sticky note holder v2 by vixitu, the complete one is the 2x2x6 remix by red33. its pla matte white, by bambu, and just sliced it in bbu studio and hit print. Had some troubles yesterday with the original v2 version by vixitu, it said extruder not extruding normally. i took the cover off snd the cutter lever screw off, and there was some pla in the black gear, just a lil. scraped it off with the hex key, did a full bed leveling and then i printed the red33 remix today. It has a weird amount of defects tho. is this normal??

normal, those are kinda produced by the design more than the printer. Chamfers of 45 degrees are much better than smooth fillets when they are printed oriented to the print bed as you did.

I see 3 things that you can influence to improve your print quality.

  1. clean your plate with dish soap/washing up liquid and a mildly hard sponge. Avoid touching the plate with your fingers while you dry the plate with kitchen towel. Fingerprints leave oils which can cause poor adhesion.

  2. Gridfinity squares are notorious for warping at the corners. Use mouse-ears or a brim in your slicer to increase the surface area on the plate. You can always use a deburring tool or craft knife to trim them off afterwards.

  3. the hair effect implies your filament might be “wet”, or absorbed moisture from humid atmosphere. If it is PLA you can try drying it at 50C for 8 hours, PETG can go up to 65C for 8 hours.

So to summarise, try drying your filament, try cleaning your plate and try adding mouse-ears to the corners of squares. I had exactly the same issues when I first started printing Gridfinity items last year. By following those 3 points I get successful prints with no defects
