Weird lines when printing TPU on a Bambu A1 Mini

This is my very first TPU printing ever, on a Bambu A1 Mini (TPU 95 from “Ariane Plast”, with generic TPU settings in Bambu Studio) (everything up-to-date, latest Bambu Studio, etc.).

The print finished without errors in the end, but i have these weird lines at 2/3 of the print - like if these lines were “less filled” than the rest of the print - what may be the causes ? Change in temperature in the room ? Something settings related ?

My first thought was the TPU had some resistance at that point which later freed up.

A second look has me wondering if it happened to start when the central section stopped?

It is hard to tell it it is at the base of the outer ring portion.

If so, it could be a retraction issue as it creates and arc and jumps to the other side and back again.

It does a good job below when the model stops being a single unit and becomes two, but the top portion is far more complicated for TPU due to the quick changes between left and right sides.

You could consider adding a little bit more retraction on the filament setting or adding a layer height modifier and slowing down the print at that transition point as it appears to BL back to quality a shirt but past it.

Just thoughts

Indeed, it seems definitely to be at the beginning of the “ring” which is on top on the “bases” …

I’m surprised it’s just 3-4 mm at the point (after that - for upper layers - everything is good again)

Have you tried setting the top layer pattern to ‘concentric’?
