Weird noise coming from XY belts?

So I just started printing out an AMS Riser for my new P1S that I’ve only had for a little less than a month now.

Took a nap and immediately upon waking and found my P1S had started making this loud clicking noise when the toolhead moves around with the XY belts. I’m 100% certain it wasn’t making such noises before I took a nap because I sat in front of it and watched it lay down the first couple of layers and it sounded completely normal.

I have captured a few videos:
BBL P1S making clicking noise in action - noise while printer is running. I tried grabbing clear audio by using a microphone accessory for my iphone, but didn’t realize it had a noise gate so unfortunately it didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped.

The good thing is that I don’t think whatever is causing the noise is NOT effecting the the print quality of my machine. But is the sound going to drive me nuts? Very likely. (I live in the basement and the printer is situated right outside my room and the clicking is loud enough to be heard through the door)

Anyone else experienced this or have any idea what could be causing this noise? I’ve tried looking everywhere for answers already so I’m at a loss, especially since I’m still pretty new to 3D printers, this is my first bby (if you ignore the monoprice maker select v2 i have kept in a box for years and never set up lol)…

Iam having exaclty the same issue, i know the post is from 2024, but did you manage to solve it? Im afraid of starting disassembling random stuff

I can’t say for sure what had caused the noise but I have a suspicion on what it might have been. Shortly after making this thread, the noise just suddenly disappeared and haven’t heard it since.

All I did do a deep clean of the interior at that time… clean and lube the rails (the ones that require lube at least) by following the steps maintenance steps. However, that didn’t get rid of the noise.

When I started checking the belts by attempting to clean them with a stiff bristled brush (no cleaning chemicals since they can damage the belt material), and check the belt tension and belt alignment, the noise stopped shortly after. I suspect either it was some debris that got stuck somewhere that I managed to knock loose or the belt was loose/out of alignment. It’s hard to say for sure…

From my research, I only came across one reported instance for a similar noise that I found on reddit where the belt motor was the issue. The user replaced it and the noise went away.

Honestly don’t be too afraid to start taking things apart. I am a total noob when it comes to mechanical stuff, but Bambu’s documentation for maintenance and taking the printer apart is pretty thorough. There is tons of videos too for additional reference that gave me a lot of confidence.
