I’ve designed some display stands which generally print really well but they often (80%~ of the time) have this weird outer ridge which seems to be in line with where the internal cavity starts - can anyone help me solve this please?
I’m using default Bambu Studio settings, X1C (but the same issue occurs on my X2D), 0.4mm nozzle, Bambu Lab PLA filament.
Here is the sliced model vs the finished print - sorry if it’s not that clear but the ridge goes all the way around the external walls and protrudes 0.1-0.2mm from the walls. There doesn’t seem to be anything on the sliced model to indicate that this ridge would be formed.
Hmm, that’s a tough one. I don’t think it’s the 3D model’s fault. At least it looks really good in the slicer. To analyze it thoroughly, you’d have to upload the .3mf file to the forum. But like I said, I don’t think that’s the problem.
Now here’s the tricky part: You’re saying the error occurs on two completely different devices? I’d definitely suspect a hardware defect at first, but if you say it’s happening on the X1C and X2D, that actually rules it out.
What else could it be? The filament? Did you use the same filament in both printers? However, that’s also very unlikely, because if the filament had gone bad, you wouldn’t just see it in one spot. On the other hand, when I look closely at the photos, I can see a few mistakes - not just that thick line.
Maybe we should take it step by step:
First, is it possible for you to upload the 3MF file to the forum?
Second, please answer this question: Did you use the same filament on both printers? Have you tried printing with other filaments yet?
After that, as a third step - though we’re not quite there yet - checking the hardware: belt tension, screws, cleaning the nozzles, the whole routine. But as I said, it would make sense to narrow down the problem first. Step by step.
Do you have a radius where the floor of the cavity metts the wall? Adding a radius can help with this issue. Also, are the outside walls thick enough to have infill if you are using 3 walls?
