Welded Filament Not working

Ive been trying for some time to weld two spools of Hatch box PLA to use on my A1 Mini. Ive had no luck with getting it to work i’ve tried a few methods and different tools to weld the two pieces together but once it actually bonds and then that joint section reaches the hot end the extruder just clicks and doesn’t work. Im wondering if anyone has had better luck with getting a welded piece of filament to work.

It would help if you had a way to restrict the thickness of the welded portion.

Ideally, you need to ensure it will fit into the PTFE tube, so, using a PTFE tube will aid that.

This is enjoyed by many.

Wouldn’t an AMS lite remove the need for the welding?

The ultimate (but quite expensive) solution to welding filament for the A1 would be a Mosaic Palette2/3. An extra byproduct of this (via an updated version of the p2pp post processor) would be increasing the AMS lite max colours from 4 up to 7 or more.

and then you cut the filament, to remove the device you used to join it.

Ive tried something very similar without the spring in the middle. Im guessing the spring is the critical component i’m missing. Ill have to try this print
