Well I was going to update my firmware . .

Why do they make it practically impossible to update the firmware? I cannot get the pin code to show up no matter what I try. It seems they must get into your phone with the Bambu Handy app (which I don’t use and normally use LAN ONLY mode). Whats the magic trick I need to get the pin code so I can update my firmware using Bambu Studio? Is it a must to use Bambu Handy?
Thanks

Well I got the mini updated with the Handy app now I am trying to do the A1 and can’t seem to get the Handy app to go into take a picture mode. But I will figure it out. All of this “handy stuff” doesn’t seem so handy when you have to run from one end of the house to the other 20 times before you figure it out.

Got it! Well that’s one hour I am not going to get back! But at least I can do the other 2 printers now that I figured it out. :+1:

In case others have your experience, consider writing up what exactly happened and how you resolved it.

I imagine you would have preferred not having to stumble through it.

I was thinking the same. I will do it in a little while as I have to catch up on my missing hour. But as a prelude, I set up my A1 and my A1- Mini to LAN ONLY mode right away after setting them up. I was able to use the Bambu Slicer through my wireless network just fine. I was thinking that I read somewhere that someone updated the firmware through Bambu Slicer so that is what I tried to do. Seemed simple enough. I just could not get the pin code to display although I had a 7 digit number I wrote down as I set up the printers I took notes. Too bad that wasn’t the pin code though. Anyhow, I will followup what I did in another post in this thread in case it helps someone else.

Ok, so if you have a problem updating your firmware on the A1 or A1 Mini, here is what I found out. If your printer is in LAN ONLY mode, switch that off in the printer settings. I rebooted the printer after that but don’t know if that is necessary. Once that is done, download and install the Bambu Handy app on your cell phone if you haven’t already done so. Then go to the account settings on you printer and you will see a QR Code that you will need to scan with your phone using the Bambu Handy app. Once you open the app you will need to select the middle button at the bottom center of the screen that says “devices” to set up your printer and sync it with your account. You will likely need to log on to your account through the Bambu Handy app so have your user name and password ready for your Bambu Labs account. Then just aim the camera from the app at the QR Code and it will handle the rest. Once that is done go to the firmware tab on your printer and select UPDATE. It only takes a few minutes and you are all set. If you want to go back to LAN ONLY Mode you can do that now. The only other thing which may or may not happen to you is if you fat fingered the printers Access Code by refreshing it while trying to get the pin code, when you are back in Bambu Studio you will have to update that before you can send a print to the printer. A piece of cake once you know how. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Ok. I have several problems regarding updating my A1 mini over Bambu Handy app which I need to use since it has old firmware version.

  1. I have iPhone SE 2016 phone, iOS 15.8.3. I installed the app, but in “Models” tab there is a message “Swipe down the screen to retry loading the content” and “Reload” button. When I switch to “Me” tab and try to log in, I get a message “Unable to connect to server, please check network or try again later”.
  2. I installed the app on a girlfriend’s phone and I was able to sign in the Bambu Handy app. Then when I clicked devices and scanned the QR code on my printer and Bambu Wiki page showed up with the list of firmware updates without any button to click to update. Then I switched to other option to search the printers on the network and found my printer. I tried to connect with it, but it asked to turn off lan only mode. When I turned it off, the printer disappeared from the list of printers on the network. Tried restarting the printer and restarting the app, but it didn’t help. I lost like half an hour and I had to return the phone to my girlfriend and focus on her

I should have maybe reinstalled the app on the phone. Any other suggestions? I don’t understand why this has to be so complicated, I had an update on microSD card but they couldn’t made that option by defalut, instead they force you to use phone app
