What does the physical button with the 3 red arrows do?

So I’ve read a bunch of instructions and done a few prints.
I still haven’t found out what the right button on the top of the X1 Carbon does. Can someone clue me in? Thank you.

It’s an “emergency stop” button. Well, sort of. It takes a second to register, but it does essentially the same thing as tapping the stop button on the touch screen.

Yes, I had to Google that symbol to figure out the meaning.

I hope I never have a true “emergency”, because the one time I tried to use that button, it asked for a confirmation on the screen before it actually stopped printing. When I pressed the button, I was expecting an immediate halt to everything.

I wish they had just put main power switch up front and skipped the two useless buttons.

What it does is confuse me, when I lean over the machine to make sure there are no poops hung up in the poop chute. I rest my left hand on the right front corner to reach behind with my right arm, and I press that damn button with the palm of my hand. But since the button’s effect isn’t instant, I’m always “WTF?” for a second or two before I remember.
