Hi all, I had a print job running for about 20 min and found the hot end on the build plate. Was printing black PLA. How it got on both ends is bond me.
I can’t get to work on this until tomorrow so I figured I’d ask if anyone has ideas/approaches to a fix. I don’t think I should pry off the PLA.
Picture 1 is the part found on the plate.
Picture 2 is what was left from where it broke off.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Hi,
It looks like it is just the silicon sock that got pushed off. You can put it in the oven at 140C or so and you will be able to peel the PLA right off it, assuming that the sock wasn’t itself actually damaged.
I do recommend ordering several, as they are consumable parts.

You need to thoroughly clean the affected parts.
Bambu Lab upload a video related to this just yesterday.
It is for the A1, but, the principles are identical.
Be aware, depending on how bad it is, you may have damaged parts. If you see cables broken, or circuitry damaged, do not use the parts again and obtain replacement versions.

First it’s a right of passage, everyone will have a blob sooner or later. My guess is the print lost adhesion and then stuck to the nozzle. You got off easy, just lost a sock. You can get more on the store, they’re cheap.
Watch Malcs video so you do know how to fix it should it happen again and you aren’t so lucky. Support will probably just tell you it’s ok, I doubt they’d send more socks but you never know. You can print in the meantime, but do put a sock on it.

I put the sock in an air dryer at around 140C as recommended, the PLA and other filaments that had worked their way in there were able to come out with some care not to ruin the sock. I cleaned the hot end a bit, put the sock back on and now I’m printing fine.
Thanks for the help guys!
