I have been trying to do a penguin print with Bambu PLA black and white. I ran into this problem more than once. only settings I changed was layer to .25 or .28 (at work can’t remember for sure) and infill to 5 % 3d honeycomb
Any idea of what is going on?
I was thinking it was moisture but in my ams its showing 26% humidity. I printed more descant holders after the failure and they printed fine. What % should I be at?
Your print is lifting from the buildplate.
Wash the plate with hot water and soap, turn off the aux fan or use a plate with more grip like the super tack plate.

How are you cleaning your bed plate? Oils from your hands are generally the #1 cause of adhesion issues.

I used Isopropyl Alcohol. But with the supports staying stuck to the plate, I figured that was not the problem.
Cleaning solely with IPA will often smear the oils around and not remove them, especially on the textured plate.
Clean it with dish soap (Dawn), hot water and a stiff bristled brush. The link I provided details this procedure.
The oils generally come from your hands and thus where you touch the plate will have the most adhesion issues. It is good to get into the habit of not touching the build surface as this will reduce the amount of cleaning you will need to do.

I was going to say that, “Layer adhesion is usually a heat or moisture issue (no comment about bed adhesion from me because it looks to me like the prints where well underway when they turned to spaghetti. And because everyone else is spot on about bed adhesion).” But then….
Are those magnets in there? Did you create outer walls for those cavities or just drop the magnets into the honeycomb?
no magnets. Using 3d honeycomb for infill.
I washed it with some dawn and tried the print again.

Is this still cause by adhesion because I scrubbed my plate before and after each print. And both of these had the same problem. Meter in AMS is at 31% PLA. I’m at a loss because I can print these at 4” but once I got up to 7” this happens. And I have printed 7” ones before no problem. Could it me a moisture issue. I did just switch to this white filament. I tried Elegoo for this roll. I don’t think thats the problem because the rest of the print looks perfect.
Too me it looks like the model is missing supports at the center and the printer is trying to print mid air. Does the slicing preview show support in this area?

- The heat test will tell you what tempeture to set your nozzle and addhesian.
- The torture test give you:
- Overhangs & Bridging: Tests the printer’s ability to create structures spanning gaps without support.
- Tolerances: Evaluates the gap between moving, “print-in-place” parts (e.g., gears) to ensure they don’t fuse together.
- Dimensional Accuracy: Ensures the printed part matches the exact dimensions of the digital model, often tested with holes and shapes.
- Surface Quality: Identifies issues with, or lack of, smooth surfaces on curved or angled, steep surfaces.
- Stringing & Retraction: Checks if the printer leaves thin wisps of plastic between points.
- First Layer Adhesion: Assesses the critical first layer to prevent warping or failure

You don’t need to run all of those tests. This is clearly a support issue or lack there off as the rest of the models prints without issue.

@lance_99 Where did that support tree sit before the failure?
Yes it does show a support. but the support does not stay. I guess I can try and move the print to a different part of the plate and try that or Can I increase the footprint of the tree?
Right in the middle of the mess
Looking at the preview it shows us that there are some extreme overhangs connected to the support on the model. My guess is that these overhangs are curling up, the print head is catching them and knocking over the support.
I would suggest painting in some more supports in this area. You could also change the supports to “strong” tree supports.

I agree the support looks odd, is this auto support or is this painted support?
I will try they next. Thank you. I think I need to find a pop up book of failures to learn these
