Some comes from the motherboard fan and the power supply fan, some is probably the stepper motors. It’s usual for a printer to maintain about 30% power to the steppers when idle.
This is done to maintain position of the 3 axes, but it can cause some humming. More rarely, some electronics like the power supply will also produce a small hum, or even (for those who can hear it) a high pitched squeal from the high frequency conversion of AC to DC.
Just turn off the printer if it bothers you, but be aware you must do a bed level on the first print from an off condition!
The hum is almost certainly the MC board fan. I have not detected any power supply noise (if its fan has come on, I’ve been unaware.) The steppers are powered off when the printer goes to “sleep”, typically 15 minutes.
I’ve read this a few times already and I’m confused.
My puny Ender 3 keeps his bed leveling info when switched off, so why would the mighty X1C forget all about it when powered off?
I get that you need to zero the bed Z-position when turning on and printing again, but this is hard wired into the code anyway. So why would the X1 not keep the values from a previous leveling?
