Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but let me explain.
I have a couple of different filaments distributed in four AMS-1. All of them has been fine tuned (more or less) to get optimized prints. The filaments are assigned to the AMS slots in the device settings in BS. OK so far.
When I make a sync between BS and my X2D, all non-Bambu Filaments gets replaced by the generic profile. This really sucks since years and I didn’t find a way to avoid this. After that, all filaments profiles needs to be set again.
Is that really how it’s supposed to be, or did I miss something?
My approach is to never sync filaments from AMS to any current project. Because that happens even with customized BL filament profiles… they’ll get replaced by the stick defaults, or worse. The slicer’s information about a filament is much richer… the sync really only works when a unique ID is used per filament profile, and the printer/Studio sync via cloud using the same IDs. Many filament profiles have reused IDs because most people/publishers don’t know or can’t be bothered to change them (among other issues).
I guess it’s more work with 4x AMS full of filaments vs. a couple, but ultimately I know what filament I will be using for a project and just select those in Studio directly… then make sure the right stuff is loaded into an AMS when time to print. The slicer still knows what filaments are loaded in a connected printer (w/out a manual filament sync). When I do use the green “Sync” button (next to printer model), I choose the nozzles, but when it prompts to sync filaments after that, I cancel (or ignore it).
