What new filament type would you like to see Bambu release?

* PCTG

* PP/PP-CF

* PEBA

* TPU-GF

* TPU/PEBA AIR

something with good layer adhesion, (relatively) easy to print and 100c temp resistance. without abrasive fibers (i.e cf or gf). pc pbt? ht-pla ?

Looking at the lineup, I’d really appreciate these glaring gaps to be covered:

  • PETG HF!!!
  • PETG HF!!!
  • PETG HF!!!

But I’d also appreciate these:

  • PC-CF
    Easy PC prints
  • PA6 natural
    Unloaded Nylon for tools/shims/templates, contact surfaces like rails, gears and rollers
  • PPS-GF and natural
    Best chemical resistance with a small number of colors (WCYMK) and unloaded for safe handling and use in challenging environments (like pool accessories or long term outdoor casings).
  • TPU Aero (Closed cell foaming, high stiffness base material)
    High fracture toughness at minimum weight for flying and/or swimming RC models

At least I’ve seen pasta being 3D-printed… let’s leave aside the question of whether that’s hygienic.

I would like to see some GF options. Tpu gf would be fun.

Other than that, 3kg spools and some AMS HT xl for it.

I would love to have PLA with different properties, like thermochromacy.

Seeing that bambu tends to prefer whatever is the easiest I don’t have much hope for these but,

Stonefill (i.e. colorfabb) / Cellulosefill (add:north textura) PLAs would be a massive step up over the current fake marble / wood offering.

I would like to see @BambuLab hiring an in-house team of materials scientists to develope new filaments. The next wave of big breakthroughs is going to come from new materials. BL can invest and lead in this area.

Off the top of my head, I would like to see:

  1. A new materials that prints like PLA, but is higher temp tolerant and better UV resistant.

  2. A food-safe material that can be used to print food containers. For example, a new materials that is similar to ceramic that can be used to make cups, bowls, and plates. Even better if it can come out watertight without post processing. It is fine if it can only be printed with 0.8mm or need even bigger nozzles. It is also ok if it has less dimensional accuracy.

  3. Something that is strong enough to substitute/replace metal and not overly expensive.

  4. Surprise us with new materials that no one has imagined so far.

  1. agreed, except that pla is pretty uv resistant. the issues arise from warping of prints due to overheating.

  2. there are food safe materials, does not change that fdm is not foodsafe, no matter what material you use

  3. yeah that would be nice, if you find something let me know, we can open a business. likely within the first week the us military will show up and buy exclusivr access…

  4. all fdm materials currentky around have been known for decades. most innovations are just improvements regarding printability and additives. Dont see that changing

I’d like them to keep more of what they have in stock consistently first, but:
-just more color options in general, panchroma style. maybe some more tri-colors.
-and like others are saying, PETG HF.

I think all the people asking for PETG HF… Should give PCTG a shot. Better in every way.

For me, the return of the black ASA-CF would be wonderful. Dark gray would be interesting.

The white PLA-CF or GF.

No more PLA-CF colors.

I would also like PLA metal to be available in refill with more colors.

An increase in matte color would be interesting (sober and dark) .

Exactly :). I have one roll of Dynamic which darkens when it is hit by UV light. I would also love to have a roll which lightens up when heated up.

I would like to see the come back of dissmised colors as the ABS Beige and Purple.

At last years formnext they had an amazing metal filament in the booth, and I don’t mean the shiny PLA, it was really with metal powder infused, it looked awesome and heavy. They said this was something still under development that we would hear about this year but it never happened, wish they could have figured it out for production at scale and release it

In the Canadian store PETG-HF in black keeps coming back in stock and selling out. Seems at least black is still being manufactured.
