What prints do I really need?

From the “cart before the horse dept.”

Earlier today I was faced with a possible extruder clog and the wiki that told me I would need a gear removal tool to fix the issue, which I could print out. (https://wiki.bambulab.com/x1/troubleshooting/extruder-clog/gear_removal_tool.stl))

Of course the problem is that if my extruder is clogged, I won’t be able to print it out.
What other tools or equipment will I need to print out in order to fix or maintain the printer?

You don’t really need that “tool”, which is more of a spacer to support the extruder while you do the knockout. You probably have something else around that would work.

If you have an AMS, you should probably print one of the various tools for removing the PTFE tube from the AMS buffer/hub. There’s also one that goes along with it for unlatching the AMS cable from the buffer (the hub doesn’t need this.)

Wow thanks. Can you give me a link to the AMS tool please, as I do have an AMS

I recommend this tool for detaching the PTFE tube and AMS cable. All-in-one.

These Filament Clips work well but there are others to choose from as well.

And here is a remix of one of the most popular “poop” chutes.

Awesome. Yeah I struggled with that clip already.
Talking of which, is there a good tool for disconnecting the three nozzle cables? My fingers are too large and my tweezers slip and slide…

I’m at work and can’t get to my printer. I can’t remember what “three nozzle cables” you are referring to.

Haha my descriptive ability is not great.
The three plugs that are at the end of the cables which come over the fan housing…

They are super small if you have big sausage fingers - and I know I will inadvertently pull on a wire one day…

Oh, for when you are replacing the Hot End and such? The ones the blue arrows are pointing to?

I don’t have a tool for that and really wouldn’t recommend any metal tool or a tool that would hinder your line of sight. That would increase the odds that you accidentally pull a wire out.

Yeah those ones.
I’ve seen some sort of electrical tweezers - but I wondered if there was something I could print…

Sorry, I don’t know of anything off hand. However, you might search for “Fuse Puller”. One of those scaled up or down might do the trick.

Hemostats, curved. I have the same issue and as a mechanic they are a life saver, especially when tracing wires through a control panel.

Please post such links without any tracking in the URL

Fantastic… Thanks so much for the advice. Ordered already.

Hey @konchog. I was just scrolling through the Forum when I came across an issue someone was having regarding a broken Thermistor and someone in the replies mentioned this print…

I think this is exactly what you were referring to, wasn’t it?
