I stopped following the topic back in February, because it seemed like everything that could be said had already been said in every way possible. I did stop updating because I like using Orca Slicer, and that’s what I continue to use for my X1C. Was anything ever resolved? Or are we still in a holding pattern, the same as before?
What’s the current Orca slicer user-base recommendation regarding X1C? Update firmware or not?
If I should post this somewhere else, let me know where exactly and I will move it there. If I should post it on github instead, I can do that, even though I’m sure there are a lot of Orca X1C users who may frequent this forum over that one. I’m fine either way.

What holding pattern? Bambu pulled off her move and full stop. No more statements about anything, that’s the status quo and that’s it.
Either you go into dev mode and then lose the familiar benefits, or you don’t.

Or go frozen in time, which is where I am now.
Well, I guess that’s it then. No change. Thanks for your reply.

I was at exactly the same point, although I had no problem with BambuStudio and had only used OrcaSlicer with my previous printers.
But I’m not a fan of things being locked down and users losing features they used to have. Especially not with such a lousy ‘security function’ which wasn’t one at all
For me personally (as a Bambu Cloud user), not much has changed, except that I have lost the HomeAssistant integration.
I haven’t updated either, but as I now also have an AMS2 Pro, I had to update the firmware anyway. Therefore … I now just live with the situation as it is. As soon as I have to buy a new printer, however, I will think VERY CAREFULLY about whether I want to continue with BambuLab.
The whole behaviour towards their customers and the communication (with the apparently almost non-existent support) makes me more than doubtful at such prices for the devices
I accidently upgraded my X1C firmware to the current beta, and I can confirm it breaks Orca Slicer. A real pity. I’m having to downgrade to the earlier firmware version now.
Hey there…
This is incorrect. I also updated to the newest firmware and I can still use OrcaSlicer and use it, to sent the print order to the X1C.
To be able to do that:
Go to your printer, in my case the X1C and change the mode to LAN mode. Also, enable the developer mode. Note down the printers IP address as well as the access code. Go into OrcaSlicer → Device → and on the upper left corner chose to add the printer with access code. Enter the IP address and the access code and be happy :).
What will you loose?
→ Smartphone app is not connected to your printer anymore
→ Cloud functionalities
→ I dont know, if you will see a “new Firmware ready to install”-like message
If you dont like it, just go to your printer, disable LAN mode, login into your account → go into your smartphone app → click on “add printer” → scan QR-code on your printer → use it with Bambu Studio → be happy.

I would prefer to keep the remote monitoring through the app and bite the bullet using Bambu Connect to transfer GCode to the printer. But I recently heard from someone that Connect doesn’t accept his Orca files,
I’m a bit scared. anybody tried that eventually with latest versions?
