What’s the new firmware about? Am I right to say it just brings the functions from the new BambuStudio to the printer itself? So if I do everything from the BambuStudio itself, it does not effect me?

Depending on which firmware you are on
but not only related to latest BS, check the release notes and if you have not noticed any of the ‘optimizations’ or bugs issues you can skip , but i had from annoying WIFI issues from time to time and that improved or fixed it for me
Have not noticed anything in regards of the Prints
Some functionalities introduced in the new Bambu Studio will only work if you have this latest P1 firmware therefore depending on your use basis it can effect you.
If you are referring to the below, only if you are in LAN mode. Sounds like they broke some functionality of the Panda Touch in the latest firmware update although I don’t own one so I can’t confirm. Essentially Bambu doesn’t want to pay AWS costs for third party devices or software so they are making it seem like they shouldn’t work together when they have been the entire time but NOW it’s either/or. Essentially they want people using these devices to move to LAN mode which I probably am even though I don’t use any of those devices. The cloud stuff is just a headache.
The only downside I see is not printing directly from the Handy app. Which just sends the 3MF file to the cloud to slice and then sends the printer. I have no idea why Bambu Studio’s has to send my sliced file to the cloud when I can save it to an SDCard and walk over to the printer and print it. MQTT is a protocol that was created by IBM in 1999 to send sensor data over a network for stuff like power plants (initially) but is primarily’ used for IoT devices (smart lights) now and Bambu uses to send sensor data to the cloud. Essentially Bambu set up all this cloud stuff using the MQTT protocol and doesn’t want to pay the bills for 3rd party devices or software because API calls to AWS costs money.
