Help! I’ve got a $40 card, and would like to buy some new filament because of the sale, but it’s hard to figure out what to get. Technically I don’t NEED anything, but it’s no fun to just stock up on black and white basic PLA. Is there anything you’ve gotten that was surprisingly cool in person but doesn’t stand out on the website? 
I print a lot of garden stuff, prototypes of designs, and also little toys and whatnot. I’ve been sort of eyeing the metal looking filament, but I’m not sure if it’d read much differently than silk based on the pictures. Thanks for any and all opinions
Matte Black PLA is nice. (post must be 25 characters long)

Oh nice, that was one of the filaments I was considering!
I recommend the PLA Galaxy Nebulae! It kind of changes color depending how the light is hitting it. It’ll shift between like a green or purple. My favorite metal right now is the iron gray. They’re out of it on the US store and I hope it gets restocked before the sale ends.

I really like the matte dark blue. I was pleased with the finish and color of it.
Polycarbonate is amazing. I am shocked how strong prints with it are. A tad expensive but impressive.

Really loving the new glass fiber ABS from Bambu.
I agree with the ABS GF. I bought some a week or two back, I opened a roll to try out a few days ago, its a good looking print/nice texture- and comes in some lively colors. (I bought black, white, yellow, orange and red)
During the sale, I ordered 4 rolls of the translucent PETG, as well as 4 more rolls of regular ABS.

I really like the finish of the matte PLA. (The Scarlet Red is my favorite)
If you are looking for something a bit outside the normal choices, take a look at these.
PLA Basic Bronze is a great-looking filament.
PLA Matte Dark Green is also a good-looking colour.

I bought a roll 2 weeks ago, done 1 print with it so far.
Not exactly the color I thought it was, just different.

I received it the other day, but I haven’t opened it until just now.
I have just opened it and it looks strangely green. I am doing a test print to see what it looks like in real life.
The product shots of all the others I have opened (primary colours) were correct. This does not appear to be a match.
I may have to pull that recommendation.
I have just print one of my Willies and Fidget Spinners.
This material is clearly not as advertised, it has a green hue to it. It looks more like a US army green than bronze.
That said, I still like it. I would like the bronze I thought I was buying more though.

Matte anything. ABS ( both types)
I thought the same…kinda of a green/brown mix…not a bad color, just not what I wanted.
At least the red looks like a red.
I have bought some red from eSUN and their red has so much yellow in it that it swings towards orange.
I only buy their Fire Engine Red, it looks like blood.
