When is ABS-GF better than PETG-CF?

I think I bought the wrong filament. I’ve been working on a silly little project that is a simple flashlight holder. I decided I wanted something that would flex less than the ABS I had already used, so after consulting the filament guide (which is way too hard to find, by the way), I chose ABS-GF based on the recommendations under “Structural Parts.” I probably should have been looking under “Functional Parts” instead, but I find the lines between the categories blurry.

Anyway, after I ordered it, I discovered that PETG-CF seems to have better specs in every category, not to mention the recommended drying temperature is within my dryer’s range, which ABS-GF is not. I’ve read and re-read the descriptions several times and am at a loss for what circumstances would make ABS-GF a better choice. By the way, PETG-CF is not even listed under the “Structural Parts” section, which confuses me since it seems to rate better in every category, so I’m clearly missing something.

You should be fine on the dryer range, just go as high as you can and it might take a bit more than the stated time.

They are quite similar in spec with some basic differences:

ABS-GF heat resistance is a good bit higher.
PETG-CF layer adhesion is much better.

So i think those are the things that would make ABS a better choice, if you specifically need the higher heat resistance. Maybe some UV differences too, if its always out in the sun in arizona then maybe ABS-GF is better for long term use.

I’ve been really happy with Bambu’s ABS-GF. It’s much easier to print large parts without warping issues.
