I think I’ve started at least a few threads talking about bad reviews and out there comments. It’s Friday. Can we just like post some positive comments to lead us into the weekend?
Some of my more popular models can be a mixed bag. I get enough comments talking about fit or assembly issues. It’s a little frustrating because I don’t always know how to respond, or help.
Sometimes I see comments like this though, and it brightens my mood.
One of my favorites for comments that just make me pleased as punch is the ones I get on my little anatomically correct heart bowl. It’s such a dorkly little model that doesn’t get much attention, but when it does!
Some of my favorite comments are from teachers, libraries or makerspaces that say the kids in their community play with our models. It really warms the spirit.
When you work on something and put it out there, you’re not sure how it’s going to be received or if people will have issues, so it’s been very nice to see some positive comments come across this week.
This one really made my day - it was on a model that’a miniature of a classic Braun design and this user took a picture of the print next to the original in the Braun headquarters
I always try to post my review comments after printing a model, and the vast majority of the time, they’re positive. However, I think we’re doing a disservice to the community by not posting negative comments when they’re appropriate. And by negative, I don’t mean demeaning or derogatory. I mean factual issues that have arisen and for which one is looking for a solution. My experience has been that when I’ve run into an issue with a model and reach out to the creator that they’ve been fully supportive and helpful in getting me to a solution. I’m a retired IT Manager, so I come from a world where the discussions are less about sunshine and happy days, and more about providing positive and negative feedback that can be useful to other members of the group. That said, abusive comments, or comments that aren’t directly relevant to the model should be purged by moderators… if indeed there are such things as moderators in MakerWorld. IMHO…
Everyone may have a different experience but I don’t feel like people are withholding comments when they are having issues - those come in pretty quick! I agree that it’s an important part of the process.
When talking about bad reviews or negative comments in the context of this thread, it’s more so to deal with the unreasonable ones. I think we are all respectful of comments that have legit issues and/or feedback.
I get a lot of comments and can get overwhelmed by it all. Often times I skim through the comments looking for bad reviews, questions, issues. I don’t always stop to read the positive comments because the negative ones often take priority with my limited time.
A few times here on the forum we’ve got into some deeper discussions about some of the more frustrating comments/feedback we get. Like I recently posted about a couple of 1 star reviews I got that the guy then went and reposted my model as his own. Very frustrating. With this thread, I just wanted to take a moment to step back and appreciate some of the more positive feedback/comments as most of my time in the comments is addressing issues/negative stuff.
I also think it’s nice sometimes too, to take a step back and focus on the positives in general. Here on the forums, a bulk of the discussions usually revolve around various issues. It’s the nature of things. This is the place that a lot of people come looking for help or to vent about their frustrations with Makerworld.
We are a growing community though that goes beyond just the support channels, and I think it’s important to foster that side of things too.
I love me some 3d printing, and I really enjoy being a part of this community with everyone. It motivates me all the time to try and trick you guys into positive discussions.
