When Venezuela Needed Help, Makers Moved First

When the earthquake hit Venezuela, it was hard not to feel helpless.

But across the maker community, people didn’t wait. They started printing. From orthopedic splints to small medical connectors, makers around the world used the tools they had to support the people coordinating relief on the ground.

This is a story about what happens when good files, local coordination, and people willing to help come together. Click here to read the full story.

Bambu Lab’s LATAM team has committed to supplying LayerLab with filament and 3D printers to help keep local production running. We’re also providing $50,000 in direct financial assistance for earthquake victims, along with a separate 48-hour fundraising campaign to support relief efforts in Venezuela.

Beginning Monday, July 13, at 8:00 a.m. Venezuela time (UTC−4), PLA Basic Refill filament in the three colors of the Venezuelan flag will be available for purchase:

  • Yellow (code 10400)

  • Blue (code 10601)

  • Red (code 10200)

Simply enter the code 4venezuela at checkout.

The campaign has been designed so that every purchase counts. For every qualifying filament sold, we will donate the full $20 retail price, even if the final amount paid is lower due to a discount. We will cover the difference.

One hundred percent of those funds will be donated to the UN Crisis Relief Fund on behalf of the global maker community.

After the campaign concludes, we’ll publish the total amount raised together with official confirmation of the donation.

:light_bulb: IMPORTANT: This fundraising campaign is only available through our official online stores in the US and Europe.

If you already support a humanitarian organization or NGO you trust, giving to them directly is the most effective way to help - and we’d genuinely rather say that than leave it unsaid.

If you do print, print with intention: only the items that the people coordinating relief have actually asked for and approved.

In a crisis, a hundred well-meant parts stranded somewhere along the supply chain help no one, while a validated design in the right hands can matter enormously.

If you’d like to be part of this one, we’d be honored to have you!
