I’m genuinely frustrated by the camera positioning on my H2S. It’s ridiculous and frankly embarrassing that Bambu Lab can’t seem to deliver proper calibration and accurate camera rendering for the laser. Objects align somewhat decently at the front, but toward the top and sides, the preview deviates by several millimeters from the actual cut line.
When does Bambu Lab intend to fix this? Whether through proper lens distortion correction and de-warping for the bird’s-eye camera, or via a dedicated calibration matrix/board. At the very least, a low-power laser preview should be supported so users can align objects accurately. Considering these machines cost several thousand euros, this is unacceptable. xTool manages to get accurate positioning done with a single camera just fine.
I really hope to see some progress on this soon.

Why bother fixing it? The new laser cutter is supposed to be coming out soon anyway. You can just buy that one instead.
And now for a slightly more serious answer: it probably won’t happen anytime soon, if at all, especially if the current priority is getting the R1 laser cutter onto the market.
How is a positioning accuracy like that supposed to build any trust in a new device? If the software were open source, I’d probably just vibe-code a workaround myself. The real issue is that the positioning is total trash. I could live with a maximum deviation of 0.5 mm, but considering I’ve been working professionally with Trotec, Epilog, and now four different xTool lasers for years, such bottom-tier positioning without even the chance of a preview is beyond amateurish.
At best, you can use the laser for cutting and engraving thin wood and acrylic simultaneously, where pixel-perfect positioning isn’t critical. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone for engraving stainless steel pendants or other small, pre-cut objects. Time is money, and these half-baked DIY solutions are an absolute dealbreaker.
Let’s be honest - and again, this isn’t directed at you, but at Bambu:
The laser cutter on the H2 is more of a gimmick, a nice extra, not a professional tool. It’s not bad, but it can’t compete with real laser cutters. It’s more of a backup or occasional solution for people who simply don’t have space for a proper machine, even though the marketing suggests otherwise.
