Where did my filament profiles go?

Not sure what I did wrong, but it seems as though my carefully calibrated print profiles disappeared after I installed the AMS HT and were replaced by generic print profiles. Unacceptable! I need to find them again. I’m hoping maybe they are tied to the external spool holder or something? In general, the management of print profiles seems in critical need of improvement, including the very few number that are allowed to be automatically backed-up to the cloud.

From what I’ve read the print profiles are somehow either stored or associated with an AMS, and that makes no sense at all to me. It shouldn’t matter where a spool is loaded from; its properties remain the same regardless.

Worse comes to worst I’ll turn-off the printer and backup to a previous windows restore point, and hopefully find them there.

I need to investigate, but if anyone has ideas or guidance to offer, now would be a good time to post them.

You mean those?

@Gerrit Thank you! You just saved me from going on a wild goose chase. I guess things got re-organized in some slicer release when I wasn’t paying attention.

If they’re really that important you need to back them up. What will you do if some update really does delete them? Or the drive they’re on fails? Etc.

@user_1614595620 Agreed. It’s on my todo list. For the moment, as a stopgap, I create a restore point before updating the slicer in case that would occur. I was just about to reach for that when @Gerrit saved the day with his timely post.

And yes, I would say they’re important because of all the calibration time that went into creating them. A lot of that time is just machine time, but at least some of that time is my time too.

If you use the Bambu Lab Cloud service, your data is also backed up there.

Omg lol I was going to suggest the custom area but I was like “naa surely he checked there, this update has been around for some days” :joy:.

On the subject of backing up the user files; I suspect that on windows they are in the usual app data/user location, but as a new Mac user where the heck are they??
