I’m enjoying my P2S and have ordered parts and filaments. I have to assume very little is stocked in the US since delivery times are invariably quite long, and filament not cheap unless very large quantities are ordered. Why is stock not held in the US?
I find it strange that some BL filaments can be ordered cheaper and quicker on Amazon, parts not so much. Of course, non BL products abound on other sites with next or 2-3 day delivery.
The message to BL if they ever read the forums is:
I buy based on quality (RFID is great), price and delivery. That means I now buy filament from other sources and get frustrated with parts and component orders (e.g AMS-HT) when there is no idea of delivery dates for orders.
My profile rarely has the purchases made recorded and you can only search with the order number which means I have to copy paste from the frequent order stage emails - that give no idea of possible arrival dates.
FWIW, all my BL orders so far have been fulfilled from US locations (both coasts, and TX, IIRC) and have shipped out very quickly (typically next business day). It’s ground-based shipping only, from what I’ve seen, so when it comes from the far coast it takes ~ a week to actually arrive. A day or two when it’s from the same coast as me.
YMMV, of course. I haven’t ordered anything in the last couple months or so.
With Bambu Lab, in-stock items ordered from the U.S. store generally ship from a U.S. warehouse. Which warehouse fulfills the order depends on inventory and their fulfillment routing, so it may be relatively nearby or elsewhere in the country. Special or unavailable items can be handled differently.
Recent filament/AMS order came from CA where a power supply shipped from China.
I’m in the Bay Area, California. My H2D was shipped from LA. I received it a few days after I order it. Filaments and other parts ordered from Bambu Labs takes 2-3 days as well. You can’t compare with Amazon. But Bambu has much faster and efficient shipping than other vendors. Prusa for example takes more than 1 week (or longer) even from their US branch.
I’m in NJ, some of my filaments came with shipping annotations that suggest it was cross shipped from China. All of my component orders have taken in excess of a week, the biggest problem for me is no ETA before ordering.
I think I remember some order confirmation saying 1 week shipping from them confirming receipt.
I frequently find the filament I want out of stock and /or unavailable as a refill, that simply prompts me to look elsewhere. Case in point Blue TPU for AMS, I received email that it’s now back in stock but $53 per spool + shipping. I’ll pass, I’m still waiting for my AMS-HT.
Irrespective, IMHO BL could/should improve their shipping times for those of us on the East coast, I notice that those on the West coast seem to have few issues - maybe because the container from China doesn’t take long from Port to the West coast distribution center.
If there is a NJ distribution center - would they allow pick-ups?
No, it’s not set up for pick up. It’s literally a warehouse that is used by the cheapest garbage delivery service they ever found in the nearest trash bin. i.e. the likes of “LaserShit”, “YunExpress”, “GoF** yourself” and others. BL do not own that warehouse.
Bambu shipping has always been faster in my experience. But maybe thats because I refuse to pay an extra 100 for shipping.
My last shipment with Prusa (from their website, not printed solid) took 9 days from ordering to delivery (Fedex). My last shipment with Bambu took 3 days from ordering to delivery (also Fedex).
The logistics system that Bambu uses has been consistently quicker in my experience.
For me it is a toss up. My printers were shipped from different whare houses in the US and FedEx/UPS, which seems to be reasonable time wise, and good tracking after it ships, other stuff like Cyberbrick parts seem to come UNI UNI or some other odd outfit and always seem to have some kind of problem such as my business not being open at midnight, or tried to deliver 3 times and failed, and never have usable tracking, and usually take 2 weeks or more.. My last order was filament from the current sale and it came UPS. took about a week and had good tracking info.
On the west coast I think it’s 3px, the same company most Chinese companies use, including filament manufacturers. In the past you could sometimes get bambu filament in sunlu boxes and vice versa.
Sunlu does not make bambu filament nor does bambu make sunlu filament.
I’ve ordered a lot from Prusa. It usually takes about 1 week from Printed Solid (UPS ground to West Coast) but only 3 days (DHL or FedEx) from the Czech Republic. And sometimes it’s cheaper to order it from Europe. The problem with Printed Solid is they cheap out on the “free shipping”.
That is the problem I have. UNI UNI has some weird tracking number that doesn’t give me a decent update and they can sometime take 2 or 3 “attempts” to deliver even though I’m at home.
My intent was only to encourage BL to improve their shipping processes for those on the East coast, I suspect it costs more to have Am to handle stock, but it does seem BL need to improve.
Perhaps interesting is that Am stocking Bambu Filament is becoming more common; here are adds stating its Babu product but made and shipped by TECkVIZEE - the price is lower as well.
If you are only speaking of filament, then there are many other brands to go to that will be shipped faster. ■■■■, I see options that can be delivered by 10pm.
Oh yes, I agree, but who knows who actually makes the Bambu filaments?
I have ordered Bambu product from Am with prime shipping and the box and everything including the RFID looked genuine and worked fine.
I’m just surprised that Bambu chooses to miss out on sales by price and delivery times, normally manufactures try to protect their Brands - maybe it’s not allowed for one Chinese manufacturer to sue another.
