Is there a list anywhere of which brands and which types of filament for that brand have refills that will fit onto Bambu plastic spools (e.g., the inner diameter is neither too big nor too small, overall width is correct)? I’m particularly interested in PLA, PETG, and ABS.
I’ve printed maybe 5 rolls without any issues.

I have used matter hacker build series without issues and I remove the RFID from Bambu cores with the correct colors I have marked on them and place them in the spools of matter hackers and print with the same settings as bambu basic.

For the sake of science I just ordered the following from Amazon:
Elegoo Basic PLA Refill
eSun Basic PLA Refill
Creality PETG Refill
I’ll report back my findings, probably on Sunday.
SunLu recently announced that their refills are compatible with Bambu spools.
I have used up one of the new Sunlu spools that can assembled. After checking, they don’t fit Bambu refills. The core is smaller and the sides are narrower. So if Sunlu refills fit their new spools, then I doubt that they fit the bambu spools
I can confirm that the following refills fit the Bambu spools perfectly :
Elegoo
eSun
Crealilty
They even have “the notch” so no problems at all…
Great, can you tell us something about the quality? did you use special printing profiles?
So after I took the pics I vacuum sealed all three in bags with dessicant. My backstock of filament is ridiculous and right now I’m trying to use up the oldest ones that have been gathering dust on the shelf. But having said that if it’s the same filament they’ve been selling on spools, which I believe it is, I can vouch for the Elegoo and Esun being great. I always print the Elegoo with the “Generic PLA” setting and the Esun with the built in BS Esun setting. I don’t have any expierence with Creality though.
Just use the Generic Settings.
Do elegoo refills work in sunlu spools
Were you able to test it out yet? And how satisfied were you especially with which brand? You mentioned that Elegoo and Esun have worked well for you. Would you say the quality of the vacuumsealed ones is the same as the regular spools?
I’ve had mixed experiences with Bambulab PLA myself out of 16 kg, 9 spools had winding issues, which was a real pain in the AMS.
Do you know if the other brands (Elegoo, Esun, etc.) work well with the AMS? Like, does the filament end feed out cleanly, or do you need a cutter mechanism for those?
Thanks again for sharing your insights, really appreciate it!
Welcome to the forum!
No, not yet. I just started using a new filament inventory app and I shocked myself with how much filament I’ve hoarded. Give me a few days and I promise to break them out and report back, on the quality and also how the end is terminated.
On the normal Elegoo spools (non-refill) the end is normally going through a hole and bent to hold it. You’ll normally get the can’t feed error at the end and have to cut it and switch it out.
Good one
