The Bambu Lab H2D wiki entitled “H2D Regular cleaning and maintenance recommendations” recommends using a “non-woven cloth”. Indeed, that section of the wiki alone refers to a “non-woven” cloth no less than 32 times. https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/h2/maintenance/period-maintenance
Let’s get real. Exactly which non-woven cloths work the best?
I like using the “Rod Sloth” for cleaning the leadscrews:
and I can confirm that even cloths which are self-proclaimed to be “lint free” break down while using it, leaving lint and threads and dust behind, which then needs to be removed. At last for the Rod Sloth, cotton (whether woven or unwoven) seems problematic.
Therefore, I am thinking of trying one or the other (or both) of:
or
to avoid that outcome. I should be receiving those products tomorrow. If anyone is interested, I’ll let you know whether either one works any better.
You don’t find that it leaves bits of paper towel behind on the lead screws when you do that? I started with paper towels (Brawny brand to be specific), and at least in my case, I noticed that happening. So, at least for me, the issue never was any worries about doing any direct damage to the lead screw while cleaning, but rather what the paper towel left behind of itself, and whether that may gum up the works.
It does leave a bit, but the movement of the screw just pushes it to the bottom or top.
A tiny bit of fuzz won’t effect print quality if it can still move freely. Just remember light touch.
The leade screw doesn’t need a deep cleaning unless you see bits of grease binding and drying in the threads (effects free movement). I manage a lot of industrial machines like and i only ever worry about hardened grease/oil altering a gantries movement.
