My P1S can grab the filament and move it up, but it wont release out of the hotend, or it will try to extrude it and the gear stops moving/slipping. Theirs this small deadzone where it’ll move back and forth but I can’t release the filament or extrude anything, what should I do? I haven’t made anything in a while and mid print it just stopped extruding and this happened… any Ideas?
Video of the issue and sound:
note: Something I noticed is the printer did cut the filament, so when I push or pull the line the bit sticking out of the heat block does not move and is separate, I have no idea why it want release but I cannot find any disassembly videos online let alone anyone with this issue.
First, reinstall the filament cutter and manually activate it. This should allow the extruder to release the filament when unloading it. If it doesn’t it’s probably because you have a jam. Here is the wiki article for dealing with an extruder clog.
This is the video for disassembling the extruder.
You will probably need to take the extruder fully apart to clear a jam.
Thank you very much for the clear answer and swift reply, means a lot! I apologize for responding a bit late, I couldn’t make the custom gear removal tool because well- tryna fix the thing and cant print lol, had to get a bit creative to remove it but got it in the end. The filament made Y shape around the wedge near the gears and just locked itself in, glad I know how to unclog it now though.
I always end up panicking with issues and remember this amazing forum exists, have a wonderful day!
This is something that happens now and then.
The next time it happens you won’t panic, you’ll just say something like “Damn-it! Time to pop open the extruder again.”
