Could someone tell me why my top surfaces look like this.

Shallow top angles will produce visible “steps”.

A lower layer height will not eliminate the steps, only allow more steps in a sloped surface.
You can try playing with the top surface pattern to see if there is one that better suits your application. Another option is to reorient the model so the problem surface is a side surface instead of a top.
That one badly chevroned surface is almost exactly at a right angle to the camera, so not much of a slope at all.
I’ve tried every top surface pattern available and every one still shows the same patterned behavior.
Maybe the top surface isn’t causing this problem.
Anyway, I still don’t understand what is going on here but I think I have an orientation now that would be acceptable for printing.
