Why can't we send directly to printers?

I was using the cloud for the first few weeks but deleted it since I felt like they were watching me. I went with LAN mode but you have to be at home or office on the LAN your computer and BBL printer is on. Maybe setup a VPN on your home or office router and connect to the printer while you’re away. BTW I have a P1S.

A bit off subject but the US gov is trying to ban dji drones from the US yet this is exactly the same thing, china’s access to us and our data. How long before they start coming after other companies.

Totally Agree extremely frustrating especially when cloud service is down. Think of this similar to a single player video game. You don’t expect - you must have internet service to play this game you just purchased. Same ■■■■ here Bambu you need to seriously consider changing this policy.

Can you clarify what policy that would be?

Can you be a little more clear in your question?

What policy do you think Bambu needs to change?

The policy that’s under discussion in this Thread. - Here i will save you some reading time. In short the policy they need to kill is the mandatory, must have internet to have the ability to PRINT!! - Clear now

Perhaps read the 3rd post in this thread?

You don’t need internet to print. There is no policy to need internet to print. There is fully functional LAN mode and you’ve always been able to print from the SD card.

Well if this is true I stand to be corrected & thanks for the enlightenment. I know one time about a year ago there servers were down & I could not print to my P1S thru my LAN. Now to be totally honest I was new to the machine but still could not print from SD card either. Was I at fault, possibly.

I have been using LAN mode from day one. So far have never printed any model through the cloud. Probably becasue of this, I don’t even have the initial distribution of boost takens to give to anyone

Does Orca bypass the BL Cloud or does it use it too?

Cloud usage depends entirely on your choice on the printer, not the slicer.

OrcaSlicer uses the Bambu cloud in the same way as Studio, or not, if you choose LAN-only mode on the printer.

I understand and fully support all the reasons for non-cloud printing, but as a practical matter, the only time I don’t use the cloud for printing is when the cloud goes down. Setup was trivially easy, and it’s a huge convenience to be able to monitor and react to prints as they develop from on-the-go across town or from wherever. Hmmm… On the other hand, I guess I’m just lucky I didn’t lose cloud connectivity for those purposes when I’m out of range. Therefore, I think BBL would do itself and its users a favor by having a redundant backup system that would give the entire system the equivalent to five 9’s reliability. Don’t most companies with mission critical cloud software do this already?
These days, with migratable VM’s, it should be so easy to do, leveraging commonly available cloud infrastructure, that it should be standard practice. Am I wrong?

My Internet where I live is seriously carp, its fine when its working but our area has gone down for half a day at a time. I’ve come to terms with it and usually drift off doing other stuff, such is life for an old fella who has lived pre-internet (and lived remote also). That said, LAN and SD options are not hard to set up so I’m not sure there’s any “life threatening” need for Bambu to have a SLA for their cloud. I’d rather them spend money structuring their support network

Yeah. That makes sense…and that’s nothing new… women usually do that…

wait how do u connect vian lan ? i dont see any ethernet port

Hi,

By “LAN only,” it means that the printer is connected only within the local network and not accessible online.

Of course it can be reached by vpn also in lan only mode. The only thing that does not work, is bambu handy. Why? Ask the bambu lab management…
