Why do I have to extruder apart I try to print 0.2mm nozzle?

I must have taken the extruder apart 6 times in the last week. I have never been able to print with the 0.2mm nozzle. The filament is expanded in the extruder, like maybe it is to hot. I never have trouble with o.4mm nozzle. I use the same temp and settings for the .2mm and the .4mm nozzle. I tell the printer that I have a .2mm nozzle in the printer settings. I am printing pla overture. 220 nozzle temp for all layers. volumetric speed 2mm3/s…Is that to low of speed? layer height .1mm width .22mm 2mm3/s = 90mm/s speed

I have been printing fine with the 0.2 nozzle. Just a thought: did you recalibrate the machine before using it with the 0.2 nozzle? Does this happen with Bambu Lab filaments?

I’ve been trying with my new 0.2 nozzle and the first couple of prints worked but now it’s completely blocked. I’ll have to try clearing it using the ‘heat the hex key and jam it in’ technique. Not sure if there’s something I’m missing in the settings. The 0.2 nozzle is selected on the device and I tried a couple of the selectable profiles but it ended up blocked solid.

I can only assume you are using the official 0.2mm hotend? Not had any issues with the default Generic PLA profile here ‘yet’. 2 mm3/s does sound like could be too slow and you are getting heat creep where the filament is softening up past the heat break as a guess. If you get a photo of the issue next time it may help by seeing how/where your problem is (how its clumping etc).

I did see this page too which may help if you’ve not found it: 3D Printer Clog | Bambu Lab Wiki

I think I have more of an issue with a specific filament rather than the nozzle. I did the first couple of prints with Bambu PLA matte gray and then I wanted to try out the AMS and print a small keyring which has white writing on it. I had several failed attempts because as soon as it came to the white filament it would rip up and clump on the nozzle and generally misbehave. The blue sections printed fine but white was always a pain. It eventually blocked the nozzle.

I switched to the 0.4 and I found I was still getting issues with the white. I dried it for 8 hours and tried again and it’s still the same. I eventually tried increasing the nozzle temp slightly and NOW it prints fine. No idea why the white is such a pain compared to the 6 other colours I use but now I know. I’ll still have to unclog my 0.2 though.

You are correct both assumes…bambu .2mm hotend clog just above the serrated cog wheel bulging. Heat is traveling above the hotend. Only happens with pla black. I will check hotend fan see if it on 100%.
