Only one in the uk supplies filaments, and non are new and all expensive.

Plus, none would accept gift cards obviously.

I was just joking about Groot.
I’m back “Try this” mode with support.

All colors available in the US

Long needle pine sap golden color, or go home. Similar stickiness characteristics a plus.

A few things I noticed:

-BBL doesn’t give the percentage of wood. The decent brands have 30-40%.

-They are using a wood powder - I wonder how that will compare to the brands that use longer fibers.

I’d love to hear some first hand experiences!

Pure and total guessing on my part but I would guess that a wood powder would render a more wood “look” than strands.
Reason I say that is because you would get a more consistent “woody” look and texture than strands. You ain’t printing Tiger Maple, Zebrawood, or Purpleheart on a 3d printer.
Might be a good candidate for “Fuzzy Skin”
I’d be curious if you can stain it, and/or put a polyurethane finish coat on it. Asking if you can stain it might be a good proxy for "What percentage wood is in a given length of filament. Also, are they just buying random sawdust or are they targeting certain colors of wood. World of difference between IKEA birch and some dark Mahogany

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

These were the same questions that I was wondering, could you stain it? How well does it sand? Does varnish stick to it? Yes, I realize that it is PLA and won’t have the unique grain lines that real wood has. No birds eye maple here. I have most of them in my cart, no clay or Ochre Yellow (really, not something I would consider as “wood” colors) I have not pulled the trigger yet, as I am not sure about these.

This would make it look like a bear.

Bear wood if you will.

If you stain it, it will no longer be bear wood, get it?

The jokes are free, the applause is welcomed.

Bear wood. I don’t think it will fit on the printer very well.

To me, it gets down to the “look”. These wood filaments have been out for a long time. I think whether you want to call it strand vs fiber, the risk to my mind is if one folds over double in the nozzleit has to still come out through the nozzle.
So it has two be able to clear the nozzle, two strands lengthwise but also two strands sideways. This is about pluggage but although the “wood” fibers have been out for many years, I’ve not heard much about them. Good or Bad which I’m inclined to think people just don’t use it much.

Contemplating Nekkid bears is waaaaay over the line.

Now who is poking the bear?

In the U.K. (and those in the EU), we. have been kept out of the launch as we were unworthy.

We will be lucky if we get them in the promised “around the 27th”, because that shouts hope.

I want them all. Partly because of OCD, partly due to my collection which I have almost all filaments in almost all colours, I am working my way through the remaining ones.

So, you can imagine my delight when the U.K. was also not allowed all 7 of the new TPU for AMS (which I like) and we have to wait until next week for the remaining 3 if they hold to their word.

The same word about being able to get them at launch that is.

Bear necessity.

They write themselves!

I agree, I am also concerned about the pluggability factor, and the look, though I do have some prints that I would like to try in a wood filament, as these items are traditionally made from wood. Another thing to consider would be the “feel factor” i.e. do they actually feel like they are made from wood, or do they just feel like a piece of plastic?

I was talking about wood filaments in general. Like 3 - 4 years ago remember seeing various brands trying to sell filament with wood in it.
So, in that respect, Bambu Lub isn’t bringing some new filament to market. Names that have been in the filament market for a while.
It has been out there certainly longer than CF or GF laden filaments which are all the rage now.

Understood (now, that is).

I had a great wood filament that had real wood in it. I printed a wand from the Harry Potter world for my friend’s child.

It printed horizontally and had LOTS of support.

It took HOURS to clean it up enough to be able to hand it off.

There was no mistaking it had real fibres in the material, the clean-up of the support material was very hair-like.

Sounds like you had a Wookie on a Stick.
