Wrong Contest

I accidentally placed a file in the wrong competition. Can it be removed from there without deleting the file and then relocating it to the correct competition?

(i delete the old one)

At the moment, there isn’t an official solution for this issue. However, a current workaround is to set it to private. Keep in mind, if you switch it back to public, it may re-enter the contest (although I haven’t tested this). It’s advisable to open a support ticket to address this matter effectively.

@Tanklet can you guys fix this in a future update?

That didn’t work, I tried it.
Have delete it now.

Hi,
We will add the option to remove your model from a certain contest in our next update. You will be able to remove your entries within the contest period.
However, this does not conflict with our 5-max entries rule as any model you remove will also count towards an entry.
Thanks

I have such a situation right now. I joined with a somewhat older model, but meanwhile made a newer version “v2”, which I also joined. Since I now have 5 models in that competition and would like to join with another one, I would have liked to remove that older version from the competition. But as I understand it, this won’t work at all. Is that correct?

correct, no chance.‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Genuine incorrect entries shouldn’t be penalised.

I would recommend a short grace period between accidental entry and subsequent removal that does not then doesn’t cause a loss of a potential slot.

An hour maybe. After that, count the entry.

i think a better option would be to choose wisely those 5 entries and take your time to make it right before uploading it(many contests throughout time only allow ONE admission). I understand the sense in being the first to upload an idea, as im battling it now and have seen 2 of my ideas have already been uploaded by others(not carbon copies but same basic concept) I just have to accept mine will be uploaded later as i want to tune it to make it the best possible model for release. Some of us only enter 1 or 2 items, seems like 5 is a little bit laxed in all honesty… seems to make people want to enter 5 subpar entries just to have a better chance at grabbing a prize. My designs arent the greatest but i try to put some pride and efforts into them regardless.

That’s unfortunate… Thanks for the clarification, Uhl.

Victor, I agree, you can often find 5 low-effort models from a designer, and those can dampen the excitement of browsing through the models. However this contest (OpenSCAD) is quite different for me, since I design all my models in OpenSCAD, which means that for me this contest has no thematic constraints at all. I could basically join with all my models for which customization is beneficial.

I agree, the OpenSCAD contest is an entirely different beast. I am easily going to enter 5 models.

My only issue is trying to work out the best way to present options on each entry for the user to understand all the options I’m providing them due to the MW implementation that doesn’t have a preview only a final export.

I also design all my models in OpenSCAD, it’s the only tool I can use due to my Aphantasia.
