X1 barely 1 month old completely freezes randomly

this has been happening a lot this past week , at least once a day.
it would freeze mid print, when idling, start of the print, end, whenever.

what i mean by freeze - display black, wont respond, fans on, extruder hot, bambu handy app has no connection, shows offline, nothing works unless i power cycle it.
been back and forth with the support, tried it without the sd card, no change
tried removing the screen all together and keep running it without it, no change.
is my printer faulty ? should they replace it ? really fraustrating.

ME: Replacement, but its a long process. Good luck!

did you had yours replaced ? what was long about the process?

No, i haven’t. My printer has been great for me.

Search some threads here and you will see what could happen.

Sounds like im about to get dissappointed with this purchase

Hopefully they have changed their ways of handling bad printers.

Could be any number of things from a bad power supply to maybe main board - both are pretty easy to replace if they want to try that.

But just to eliminate mains power, do you have lights flicker or dim when an AC unit or other big loads kick in? During the heat of the summer with AC running, mains voltage sags and there is less headroom during short brownouts as motors start, etc.

Not the case, no flickering or power cuts, house is backed by battery banks from solar system and everything is monitored out the wazoo, would have been alerted about it right away.

Biggest problem is i cant recreate it, its totally random, makes it a nightmare to diagnose, start waiting for them and replacing parts one by one going to be a horrible process.
If it were just dead, not turning on, or any other constant symptom, would have been a different story.
I too, think they should replace it, im under the 30 days period.

I also have a solar install with house battery and mine needs a moment to isolate and do its microgrid thing when the power grid goes down. That dead time is long enough to reset clocks that are on the battery backup.

Probably not important to this but depending on brand/features, you might also have a big gap when there are power issues. We’ve been having more and more here and recently had a lightning strike somewhere that turned the house lights into some kind of disco light show. It all made it through before the system could isolate and power back up.

But thanks to our now semi-frequent power glitches I also run my X1C on a battery backup/UPS that is full time with no switchover delay. Sounds like might not be your issue though.

Under 30 days? I’d replace too.

i hear you mate but not the case here.
the whole house is on batteries behind dual inverters that doesnt flicker at all when the grid goes down
on top of that, the printer is in a room that has its own gel batteries backup and its on Victron inverter that is even higher quality and quicker than the main one, there is no situation that room has no power unless ALL the batteries ran out.

BUT, it could be a power supply issue on the actual printer side, maybe its power supply is bad and not working like it should , that is definetly possible, this may sound entitled but i feel i shouldnt be messing with this on a new machine.

I have to agree. If you haven’t already, I’d get an RMA/exchange going.

Good to see there are other power freaks around too. As an aside, we’ve had a number of large fires started by downed power lines. We recently got notices from the power company that they will be proactively shutting down power to places experiencing severe/impact weather if they see conditions ripe for more fires.

And another off-topic aside, heard from neighbors installing solar on their home that the power company has moved us to “yellow” meaning they are nearing the limit for solar installs in this neighborhood right when we got another notice that they are applying for a 36% rate hike to be phased in over a couple of years. People may think they can install solar to mitigate increases and outages only to find out their neighborhood is saturated. Hesitate long. Hesitate wrong. :+1:

How do i start the process?
I mean i been back and forth with the support on this matter for a few days now.
Other than telling them to do a return, is there any other way?

Luckily I haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing that process and am no help.

But others here certainly have had to get returns. Worst case is you might start a thread on how you do it?

their FAQ says to return need to contact customer support, i raised another ticket solely for that purpose, lets see how they handle it, by the warranty statement it sounds like they can send a replacement first so youre not left with nothing and then afterwards send back the faulty one, fingers crossed.

My AMS stopped working the first day. I kept asking for a replacement but naturally the led me down the path of replacing boards. I’m four boards in and no resolution. It’s been a terrible experience for something brand new. I don’t know if one board was bad and ruining other boards, so replacing piecemeal like this isn’t working or what but I’m completely out of patience with this support process (only one board I haven’t replaced I think). I even just bought more filament from them imagining the issues would finally be resolved, stupid me.

Damn that’s bad
Was it inside the 30 days period?

I still am yes. It happened the first day. It worked when I first set it up that first day. I printed a couple of test prints. Came back to it later and the AMS was not powered on anymore and not detected. The printer has worked but not the ams since. They have sent four boards. I’m not sure if I’m just bad at this or what but still not working. I have asked them to send a full replacement or give me my money back a couple of times but they insist on sending more boards (as someone who has been involved in startups I get why they want this, and in the end just hope their solution will finally work). After replacing the main board and another today I am insisting on the replacement or money only. I really hope I don’t have to fight them on this as that will just make the experience that much worse.

The sad thing is I still just really want one of these to work. I have loved the printer but am even more excited about the ams. I even ordered filament this last week because I was so confident and excited it would finally work.

Update - Bambu has agreed to do a replacement for my printer, gave me 2 options, 1 where i return the faulty one to them and they will send a new one
and 2 , i can pay for a new one and once arrived they arrange a return for the old one and refund the amount.
so far so good, way to go bambu!

I seem to have a similar issue with my X1C, too, unfortunately. :frowning:
Sometimes it freezes after a print, display dark, no way to wake it up other than powercycling. Had that twice in the last week.
In another event I had the printer freeze while printing. Fans were still running but print head stood still. No way to operate the printer other than power off/on.

I opened a support ticket. We’ll see.
