I’ve noticed that the camera in the X1 provides a great picture of the toolhead and rails, but can hardly see small parts when the bed lowers down after a print.
It would be much better if the camera were tilted down significantly so that the angle would show more of the overall build volume instead of just the moving gantry.
I’m thinking of modifying the camera mounting, but not sure if this will mess with spaghetti detection?

The camera isn’t for looking at parts already printed, but for monitoring the current print layers and detecting problems. Yes, you can use it to look at prints and for timelapses, but that’s secondary.

That’s true, though the camera angle is un-ideal for that as well. No point having over 1/3 of the camera’s field of view being occupied by mechanisms that aren’t relevant to it. It’s obviously important to have the “currently printing” layer be well within the view, but it seems that the camera would be able to fully do it’s job for failure detection while also being more optimal for other purposes as well.
As a side note, of the hundreds of hours I’ve run so far, only one print triggered spaghetti detection, and it was just due to a weird part geometry with silk filament, so not actually a real issue, and the one time I had a print come unstuck from the print plate, the printer didn’t detect it and kept running for an hour after making quite a mess.
Overall love the printer, definitely the most reliable I’ve used by FAR, but little tweaks like camera angle would make it even better.
