X1C / ASA / nozzle clog

Hi I have problem with printing with ASA. Before I made a lot of perfect prints with PLA. Now I have changed from PLA to ASA. First time my print failed in 50%.
Next i have changed the nozzle to the new one and something the same happen.

Printer: Bambulab X1 carbon
Filament: Bambulab ASA
Bed: engineering plate
Nozzle temp: 270
Nozzle diameter: 0.4
Nozzle: new one changed yesterday original
Calibrations: new made
Bed temp: 90
Chamber temp: 40
Layer height: 0,08
Software: Bambustudio and all original setting in profile from Bambu.

Now I have tried to print with 0,12 layer height and everything seems to be fine. I have nice good print. But I need to try print several times to be sure of this.
And I want you to help me explain why when printing ASA in layer height 0,08 failed and with 0.12 does not. I have printed a lot of models with PLA in 0,08 and was no problem never happen.

Yours faithfully,
Kamil Niedzielski

The answer I’d say is right there, you’re trying to push a very thin amount through larger orifice relatively speaking and at high temperature. If you have to print at 0.08mm layer height I’d say drop your nozzle to 0.2mm, followed by finding the lowest best temperature.

I’m yet to print ASA but print ABS which is similar, I don’t use the default Bambu settings as they don’t work. My filament is actually 5 years old from previous printer and which came with it and shelved.

I hope this sheds a little light and is of some help, I’m still learning too…
