X1C clicking noise on Y-axis

Printer model: Bambu Lab X1 Carbon
Slicer: Bambu Studio (latest version)
Filament type: (PLA/PETG– issue happens even without printing)

Problem description:
When the Y-axis moves back and forward, I hear a rattling or clicking sound roughly in the middle of the movement. It seems to come from the left side. I suspect it could be related to a shaft, a bearing riding on the shaft, or possibly one of the idler pulleys.

I’ve already cleaned the carbon rods and the metal shafts thoroughly and applied a small amount of oil. The noise is still present. It gets worse when the toolhead is positioned center to left. When the toolhead is on the right side, the sound is minimal or not noticeable at all.

The noise happens even when the printer is not printing, just during Y-axis movement.

Other notes:

  • Happens consistently at the same position
  • Seems mechanical in nature

Video is here:

Turn off the printer and try isolating the sound while moving the toolhead by hand.

Actually, first turn off the printer and give it a complete cleaning and maintenance.
Your y-axis rods are filthy, so I assume everything else similarly neglected.

Hi
I had more or less the same noise on my x1 and think I have found the culprit when doing a service cleaning all the rods I noticed the right hand Y axis steel rod has slight movement back and forward which makes the same noise …I have only just found it so looking on how to tighten it up ? There is loads of stuff on the belts and pulleys (which o have done trying to find this noise ) but none on the actual rail having movement in !!!
