My P1P makes very little noise from the stepper motors while the X1C is super loud. Anybody else experience this? Another weird thing ive noticed is that the silent mode on the P1P is louder than standard. When the P1P moves fast, it sounds like a cardboard box sliding on the floor. The X1C sounds like a deaf DJ trying to play techno.
You might try putting some tape or your fingers on the side panels and seeing if the sound changes. The X1 enclosure is known to vibrate with the motor sounds and make it louder.
Some users have use Noico or some other sound mat (like used in cars) on the inside of the panels to stop them from vibrating. You do not need to cover the entire panel. 50x50mm square in the middle of each panel with stop the vibration.
Different speeds will have different resonance for stepper motors. A stepper moving at 50mm/sec very well may be louder than a stepper moving at 100mm/sec. Run a max flow test and as the speeds ramp up I bet you hear a slow speed that sounds pretty bad, before getting better as speeds increase.
I would think the P1P could be quieter than the X1C purely based on the number of fans, P1P has 2 not including the AUX, chamber, and mainboard upgrade fans. 3 less fans will be significant as far as noise goes, but it is also important to note there is a trade off with no enclosure.
Unfortunately, Bambu didn’t use silent stepper drivers in either (IIRC), so there are definitely ways to improve this without very much R&D on Bambu’s side for the future offerings. Personally, I do expect sound to be significantly improved in the next offerings.
