X1C - first grinding noise, then rattling noise

I started to notice a grinding sound that my X1C did during certain moves while printing. I later reproduced the sound by just moving the toolhead with my hand:

This I got support from Bambu labs with in cleaning the carbon rods and adjusting the belt tensioners, which so far seems to have resolved the issue.

But during calibration after this procedure I noticed another annoying sounds that the toolhead made:

Any idea what this is? (It’s not the tube holder that I added).

The 2nd video - calibration noise - POSSIBLY the filament cutter handle rattling…maybe.

Thanks for the tip!

I tried to apply a little force to all external components, such as the PTFE tube holder, the filament cutter etc. and it didn’t seem to make any difference.

Turns out you were completely right @DruiD, not the handle, but the filament cutter blade was too loose in its hinge. A little piece of rubber similar to what was done in the thread P1P rattle, vibration? - #3 by StreetSports by @dejerog solved the issue completely.

@averas Yeah pretty sure mine needs doing as well…

  • just to find some foam rubber small enough thats sticky\secure lol.
  • when its time to replace the cutter, will do that mod
  • as well as the small o-rings in the fan screws just incase…

If you have some TPU lying around you can probably just print some of that, or even cut a piece of the filament with a sharp knife. You just need something soft to shove under the cutter.

Yeah i will sort something when its time to change the cutter blade. Cheers!

For the first one, i had same issue. Problem was the belt scratching on something inside. I’ve centered the belt on idler pulleys and the noise is gone

@DruiD @averas Hello, I think I have similar thing with the loose filament cutter, but I am not sure (the sound may be conpletely normal and there could be no issue, I dont know…). I seem to hear some kind of rattle when the print head homes itself, but this could be normal, IDK. So please tell me if it is alright or not, I cant compare it to other printers. I have P1S.

Also a little out of topic, when you start a print (or just everytime you heat the nozzle over 50 c) the hotend fan (not part cooling, I mean the one that cools the heatsink of the nozzle assembly) turns on. In my case its RPM jumps high for a half a second and then it lowers its RPM a bit and stays like that for the whole print. It works with no issues, but I just want to ask whether it is alright.

The sound of toolhead (note that I use very sensitive microphone):

I will be extremelly glad for any help, many thanks!
