Falling in love with 3D printing… Of course my hot first girl friend the A1 … well you Im sure you have heard… …
I found it so easy to use… from the control panel to setup to filament switches .
Do I need higher bed temps… no… my 8 inch Darth Vader lego man replica doesn’t need to be in glass fiber and neither does the kitchen drawer organizers… but I want easy… but ABS , other interests… me.
If you’re asking about quality. There is zero difference between the different printers with the exception of those filaments that are not recommended for the A1 because of the lower bed temp and lack of enclosure.
So unless you plan on printing with anything other than PLA such as ABS, Nylon, perhaps Carbon fiber, the main advantage of the X1 is the creature comforts. Even then, the A1 has the one feature of easily interchangeable nozzles that neither the X1 and P1 have.
To me, this is a question identical to purchasing the day to day version of an automobile versus its luxury-badged sibling (ie. Honda vs Acura, Toyota vs Lexus and Nissan vs Infinity)
So if you now have a taste of what 3D printing can be and you now want to upgrade to the car with leather seats and you have the discretionary cash, you’ll probably love the X1C. But if you are like me and purchased the luxury auto mobile after owning the non-luxury version, beware you may experience buyers remorse.
I have the P1P BTW and that was in my Goldilocks zone for my taste and willingness to spend. The A1 came out months later and at first I had a slight twinge of buyer’s remorse until I learned of the 80c bed temp limitation and I was glad I had the P1.
If you haven’t seen their comparison chart, here is the link. It mighty help you to decide.
IMO the A1 has the easiest nozzel change out setup I ever dealt with. I hope in the future they go that way or find a way to modify the older printers to use that system.
Anyways to answer op question, it really comes down to what you want. I personally want the x1c because I try to make money with 3d printing, and I’ve been doing it for 6+ years. But if I was to be 100% up front. If it wasn’t for this recall mess, I likely would just stick with the A1. The A1 honestly is a very good printer again outside of the recall event.
Like if you have the money, then why not. But if you just want to jump in and have fun. I would wait for the A1 to get fixed and run with that.
Another option is the p1s. Note many have made mods to make it pretty close to the x1c but without the lidar and ai function.
You will rightly get 1000 answers to the question - I think two things can possibly be said across the board.
The advantages of the X1 were not 100% recognized. For example, it is the only printer with spagetti detection out of the box.
A lot will happen in the next 3 months (as always). There are even now companies are coming with 3D printing and longtime developed customer relationships expiriance out of the resin printing (now into the FDM printing). Those strongly focus into the X1C cost segment and above - Where there is currently (in my limited point of view), is the hughest and massive under-coverage of the market at all.
So to answer your question: I don’t know and at the moment there are possible 1000 correct answers to it.
I totally agree but then again, I have to look at my own printing needs and say that for me at least, it’s more of a nice to have than a need to have. Nevertheless, who doesn’t want all the options when you buy anything no matter what the technology.
Just a heads up the A1 in the beta firmware has “air printing” detection. Idk if it’s a version of spaghetti detection since I didn’t try it out. But I suspect it is since it already can detect clogs.
Ya at least we moved away from changing a hot nozzel. I don’t care how easy people made that out to be. I suspect a quiet majority had problems because I’ve seen people jump from other printers to one of bambu printers (mostly the A1) purely due to it.
I even jumped from a prusa mk3 to the A1 100% because I was tired of the old method of changing out the nozzles
In my case on the X1 it works 100% error-free. Ok, maybe there will be one two unneeded error messages, but it’s better that way than one message that didn’t come. So 100% customer satisfaction from my side at this point and I rarely accept less than 100% satisfaction
I recently purchased another X1C over a P1S/P1P/A1, and all that. I think there’s a number of little things about the X1C that make it nice, and a lot of that often gets overlooked. I mean even obscure things like the fact that the side panels are gray, so the interior of the thing isn’t nearly as pit of a doom! Okay, that’s really getting into the tiny, and probably not that important details.
I have 2 P1S’s that I got after my X1C, and in a lot of ways they really aren’t that different once you pull the model off the plate. The quality of life when working with the X1C, especially directly, is much better though. I could see in a large print farm, where you have 20 printers, the X1C would not be worth it at all! For home office prototyping though it’s really nice, and I prefer it over the P1S.
thank you all. I went with X1-C. … pre - we are sorry here is a little coupon A1. If the A1 comes back i hope … 3 most till the coupon expires… once received. 3 week count down to return the A1… waiting the X1-C . Thanks for insight all~!
Hope it works out for you. I own the X1C and it’s been fabulous until recently. Some thing’s I’ve been printing for months are suddenly having issues. Trying to get customer service is a waste of time. They treat you like a fool and require an absurd amount of proof of ownership and purchase. I had purchased an A1 mini yesterday to add to our output but after the way customer service treats people, I’ll probably return it. Do a search, not her, just online for Bambu Labs customer service. The things you see will floor you. There isn’t a good thing listed about their service anywhere. And it appears to be done from out of country. My response took 3 days and arrived in my email just before midnight the 3rd day. It solved nothing and demanded I prove where I bought it. It also basically said I was SOL for the filament membership they are touting on their site free for 6 months. You have to buy it from them direct. You cannot buy a membership. If you get a free membership, after 6 months you cannot renew it. Why even offer something that can’t be bought? Or give you something only to take it away?
I hope the best for you. But I’d go into it with low expectations.
ultimately I did buy and X1C. I had returned my A1 … full refund… (except for the spare parts I own for it… ). I will probably buy an A1 again… I’m worried though that the parts will be all returned A1s so will be interesting.
Love the X1C has been great. 100% agree with you on service model and experience.
