X1C loud Screech followed by loss of center point

I’ve had this ongoing problem and its happening nearly every print now. As the print head is moving it makes a knocking sound which will eventually turn to a loud screech and completely loose its center point. Printing off the part in thin air. If I catch it soon enough I can pause the print, rehome it, and resume. I’ll have lost a few lines but the overall print can be saved. However It can still happen again before the print ends.

Here is what Ive tried so far.

  1. slowing the print speed
  2. cleaning carbon rods
  3. Increasing the belt tension

Any help is appreciated, Ill try and do some more cleaning of the rails and maybe lube up the non carbon rods to see if that helps

I just had this same thing happen on my P1P! It’s in Pause right now, I caught it within seconds of the noise. How did you rehome in the middle of a print? Maybe I can save this… its 7hr’s into the print.
