For some reason my X1C has this tab popped out and I never noticed before and now the print head seems to slam into it knocking the magnetic face off.
What is this tab? Is it supposed to be popped out like that? This is inside the unit at the front right behind the top hinge
Welcome to the forum.
That tab is what activates the cutter arm. The head is supposed to hit it.
If your home position is incorrect it will knock the head face off. Check to make sure the head can home in the front right corner. Often too short of a PTFE tube will cause correct homing issues. Printed PTFE guides are also known to cause issue.

That actually makes a lot of sense, i just replaced the boden tube. Thanks you.
