X1C Slamming into Flapper, Homing Loop

Recently our X1C started slamming into the chute flapper while trying to home at the start of a print. I’m not sure what is causing this but this is what it does on loop. I’m not finding any articles on this problem.

There is no error and it will just keep doing it if I don’t stop the print.

Here’s a video of what’s happening.

Power cycle and factory reset is where I would start. What firmware version is the printer running?

It’s been power-cycled a handful of times with no benefit. Can try to factory reset.l, I’m pretty doubtful that will solve it.

I have this EXACT same problem. Try a power cycle and calibration does not make any difference. After homing loop for about 10 times, it started to print. However, after filament change and homing, the stop and starting point were shifted by about (3,3) causing a misalign. I will try to open a ticket to BL.

I’ve found a solution. Disable “Auto-Recover from Step loss” in Print Options seems to solve this problem entirely. No layer shift after color change as well.

What print speed did you have selected when it was recovering from the step loss?

you might have solved this. I don’t think we’ve slam the flapper since turning it off.

Edit - Next print, it returned, slamming into the flapper again. Not fixed.

Remove the PTFE tube holder mod from the top, it causes step loss and homing issues

Hi Nick,
I should have followed up but that was something that support caught and solved the problem for me.

Embarrassing as it was.

I have this same issue of banging into poop chute. Previously had installed a PTFE guide mod that looks similar. Used for a couple weeks no issue. Banging came suddenly one days. Your simple solution of removing the PTFE guide magically solved it. Curious to know why it causes this issue thought gh.

I register just to say Thank You. This fixed my exact problem as OP. Somehow this mod caused step loss suddenly.
