X1CC New Update is amazing

I received a notification of a new update (Ver: 01.07.01.00) for my printer X1CC and I updated and after completing the update I was asked to do a full calibration of the printer and it took about 30 minutes and the result was really amazing as the printing noise decreased by 40 percent and I consider this the most important update I have installed for this great printer

Cautionary yellow flag here!!!

I generally believe in upgrading only when there are essential fixes or new features required. I noticed in Bambu Studio’s latest release that they promised full SD card read and write support for the P1 series, along with other desirable features. However, to access these, a firmware upgrade was necessary. I trusted their claim, but it appears they didn’t deliver. These features don’t work in LAN-only mode as they promised.

The upgrade

When I updated the firmware on my P1 last week, I too was amazed at how much more silent the motors were. But to be fair, motor noise wasn’t a priority for me even though my printer is about 1.4 meters from me.

That’s when the trouble started

During the week I’ve been using version 1.04, I’ve encountered numerous network connectivity problems as reported by many people here in various “xxxx not working after upgrade…” posts.

These issues can be extremely challenging to address, especially when Bambu, intentionally restricts access to their encrypted logs, leaving us dependent on their assistance. Which means… I’m F*cked

So before one runs out and upgrades, ask yourself this question; am I willing to trade off slightly quieter motor noise for:

  • Frequent disconnects requiring reentering of the passcode
  • Frequent download failures requiring me to restart the download
  • Frequent power-cycling of the printer to get it to reattach itself to the network.

So… if none of these other potential problems are an issue for you and motor noise is, then upgrading makes sense. Otherwise, you have been warned that the pretty Rose Bush in the Bambu Walled Garden has sharp thorns.

Isn’t there a downgrade option on the P1 printers? I never had reason to test that on my X1 but I know others have done so without problems (eg. to confirm problems went away, or that they did not).

Although I didn’t look too hard for it, I wasn’t able to find it. If you, or anyone, knows where the downgrade instructions may be found, please post a link.

@Olias right in the app, bottom of the firmware version screen you should see it. Both my X1C and P1S have the option available.

Thank you for that. I would have never looked in Handy since it isn’t supported in LAN-only mode so thanks for stepping up and pointing that out. I would have never found that on my own. :+1:
