Okay. But I think they should change it to “AMS 2 Semi-Pro*”
*Can be upgraded to “Pro” if you purchase the “Pro adapter”.
That way one can wonder What is the ‘Pro’ version is and why would I need it?
I suppose if they found out I was using an Adapter from Amazon for half the price they’d void the warranty. “I’m NOT DOING THAT BAMBU! I’M NOT DOING THAT!”

It actually goes from “Pro” to “Pro Max”
Any chance offline update will available this week. I bought mine in the business trip to China and bring it back to Viet Nam last week then find out that the machine is region lock as soon as I unpack it. I ask around and people said that I can perform offline update with USB but cannot find the file on the official website. Please kindly check and publish it.

Print + dry wasn’t a feature when they released the AMS 2 Pro. Bambu Labs was still flatout lying to everyone and saying that “filament gets too soft to print + dry at the same time” until they recently dropped the feature to beta firmware. They never had any intention of doing this originally, and would have kept lying to us if it wasn’t for companies like Eibos and Sunlu making dryers that work on the AMS proving them wrong quite publicly. Simply put, Bambu Labs isn’t a great company and thinks they’re right 100% of the time even when they’re obviously not. They don’t listen, feedback never reaches the dev team, and they don’t want to solve issues.
It’s a generic 24V 4.0A adaptor with a 5.5mm barrel jack. Just get one on Amazon for half of the price. There’s zero difference between the 3rd party one I got and the Bambu Labs one. If Bambu Labs won’t supply you with one WITH the machine like a normal manufacturer would, then don’t give them your money and get one somewhere else for less.
You know the print while drying temps are lower than the regular drying temps right?
What? Tool only deals are fantastic for people like me that already have plenty of batteries and don’t want the charger, battery and tool bag (Using DeWalt as an example). It keeps the price down and makes it so you don’t have a bunch of extra stuff around that you aren’t using.
As for your complaint about the power supply not being included, I think it is a bit whiney and nit picky. When I bought my H2S drying while printing wasn’t even a thing that ever crossed my mind. I figured I would dry, if needed, while I slept. Then the next day I would print. Being able to do both at the same time only became a thing recently. I was happy to see that the company is listening to consumers and adding features. You say we as consumers became complacent? Remember when you bought things and they stayed the same forever? Like a SNES, toaster, car, etc… These things don’t get upgrades. It is wonderful that now we live in a world where some of our products get better over time with updates. I take the partial drying on my H2S with no additional power supply as a massive win. They didn’t need to do that.

What batteries are you buying? I have had the same 1.5mAh batteries since 2016, and they work fine. A bit less life, but that is fine. I just bought a two pack of 4mAh for $100 at Lowe’s, so $50 per battery that are 2.5x larger. Don’t know what tools you are getting or what mAh ratings you are comparing saying that the batteries cost more. Of course if you go with the huge 8mAh or something, then yes, the price is going to be up there. Understandably so. Those things are huge.
I don’t know what sort of point you are trying to make with your “roll over” comment? I am saying it is a good thing that companies continue to innovate, and that is a good thing there is continual improvement and you thing I am somehow bending the knee or something… Make it makes sense…
Yep! You sound whiny… at a minimum. The requirement for the additional power supply when connecting more than one AMS2 to the printer, AND you want it to have drying capability, is clearly stated on the product page. If you don’t need drying, you don’t need the power supply.
I will not weigh in on the reasonable price of power adapters, nor on any poster’s whininess or lack thereof. ![]()
One technical point that I didn’t see mentioned (apologies if I missed it): Yes, Bambu has switched from no-drying-while-printing to drying-while-printing-is-allowed. But it looks like they’re still worried about filament being oversoftened (their stated reason for not allowing drying while printing in the first place). If you start a print job while drying, the printer will actually lower the drying temperature by 10C or so during the print.
Also, there’s one more technical limitation you should be aware of before committing to the drying-while-printing lifestyle: Yes, drying while printing is supported. But drying while switching filaments seems to still be frowned upon. Most notably, the RFID readers are disabled while drying is turned on. So if you use Bambu-brand filaments and you want the automatic filament recognition to work, you need to stop drying, then do the filament swap, then start drying again.
I didn’t know why I’d need it until I read that it could. But in a very wet environment like mine it would advantageous to keep it drying while on long print jobs. Seems a couple lines of code to stop drying while reading and switching, then continue drying afterwards would be relatively easy to do AS would automagicaly lowering temp while printing.
I wonder if flow rate/ print speed might be affected by warm vs cold filament?![]()
I designed the controls for the first(?) titanium powder injection mold machine. It was only meant to be a proof of concept for the 400 mesh titanium balls in an organic wax binder for the guy who came up with the patented binder. Had a pretty precise shrink rate when fired in a vacuum furnace. Eliminates most of the machining time/waste. The titanium plant bought it all and put it to work full time making water flow vanes for Culligan. The nozzle had a heater that melted the powder into goo. On occasion I wonder if they had to add water cooling to the injector behind the goo heater. It was spec’d as a test machine. I worked for the guy who made the molds.

The hilarious thing is I had to design the automation old school: Industrial Relays; Flip-flop relays, micro switches, timer and a PID control for the heater.
They wanted no programmable computer controllers at all. They didn’t want to be owned by a programmer. Apparently the guy before, wouldn’t talk to them about code changes unless there were great sums of money involved on another project.

Same setup for HD2. And to tell you the truth I would dry your higher end filaments ABS and up prior to printing but I wouldn’t want to run that kind of temperature on the filament while it’s being pulled to the extruder. The enclosure with decadent is more than enough to keep your filament dry while you’re printing even if it’s support material PVA. Maybe the consideration of running at a very low temperature after drying to keep moisture out but aside from that I don’t think trying your filament while you’re printing especially with the AMS system that Bambu Lab has created would work well.
