I’ve had my X2D for a month or so now and I’m loving it in general but I can’t help but notice that the print times for the 0.16mm Standard preset in Bambu Studio are slower than the 0.16mm Optimal preset for the X1C.
The below comparison shows the exact same .stl being printed on X1C (left) and X2D (right) with 10% infill. Please note I am of course using the left nozzle for this, not the auxilliary nozzle.
Note the difference in preset names Standard vs Optimal - these are just presets that BL have set up. There is no ‘0.16mm Optimal’ preset for the X2D and vice versa no ‘0.16mm Standard’ preset for the X1C.
It’s clear that the difference comes from the preset speed settings and, normally I would just shrug this off and amend the speed settings myself but it seems so bizarre that BL would purposefully decrease speed settings in a newer iteration of a product line that it seems unequivocal to me that they did so with good reason.
Can anyone shed some light on this please? Why have the speed settings for the X2D been so undertuned? Am I going to encounter drawbacks in quality if I set these speed settings to match my X1C?
Hmm I’m not sure - the prices are off because I haven’t set the prices on the X2D yet, but the 10g difference in filament might just be down to the extra material the X1C extrudes during calibration before prints
I don’t own an X2D, but look at it’s specs, it definitely is faster than the X1C, I’m not sure why your profiles for the X2D are slower than the X1C’s, I’m willing to be if you match those settings above, it’ll be pretty close in completion time. I doubt you’ll encounter any issues printing slightly faster with your X2D.
It’s probably because X2D tool head being heavier than X1C tool head. The heavier the tool head, the bigger the inertia when changing directions. The bigger the inertia, the more it affect the print quality. So heavier tool head needs to print slower.
Same reason the H2S prints faster than H2D for example.
