Finally someone did a proper comparison with more than 2 colors
So basically⦠Toolcahnger wins on more than 2 colors. I think that in optimal scenario where h2d has 2 colors on separate nozzles and toolchanger, the toolchanger would win on speed (depending on particular model and amount of swaps - the more swaps, the more compounding effect)
After looking at multiple solutions and approaches it looks like for 2 colors IDEX is the winner, then toolchanger (as long as the tool swapping is āfastā), then nozzle switcher like H2D (or Ultimaker S5), then the filament-joiner like Palette and finally MMU (and in mmu youāve got types - the shorter the retraction needed the faster itāll be and the less purge needed the faster itāll be)
Pretty much spot on. The only thing i dont agree with in the video is the quality comparisons. I dont think shes lying, but the h2d still needs some tuning. Im positive that they will be even in quality after a couple more bambu updates. Not really fair to compare quality this early.
The ultimate speed/multicolor setup would be idex with multiple ams to each head and purge buckets at the end of the x axis. (Edit: Or a ton of indx heads for more than the 5 colors/materials of the XL). So one could purge while the other prints. This is what ratrig are finishing up right now.
Edit: Funny that this got a dislike. Petty misinformed/noob dislikes will be met by me disliking every post you make.
After watching this video; I would not invest a single penny in the XL. 6mm deviation per 30cm is unacceptable.
The H2D blows the XL out of the water in almost every aspect.
I have a 5 head xl already. Great printer. I know that guy couldnt figure his out. Not so sure he knows what hes doing though. Hes also been a prusa hater for a while. Aaaand i think he paid for the prusa but got the bambu free.
Do you honestly think a 300mm print would be off by 6mm? The xl is extremely accurate. Its sorta like only listening to one person on this forum thats having bad prints from an h2d and using that 1 result as the deciding factor.
I have a side challenge for you. Lets see who prints a 5 color tpu print faster. Or even 2 colors of tpu
Iām not interested at all. There are lots of facts in that video, which you can not deny.
Using 3D printed parts on a 5k machine would already be a nogo for me.
However, I also think something must be wrong about the 6mm deviation.
The whole video is wacky. I called it out when he first posted it.
I just spent 5k on a h2d setup with 2 nozzles on 1 head(with needed filter, nozzles, vision plate, ams etc). The 5 head xl is $3,500.
The value depends on how much you print/save in purge waste. Not interested in a fanboy argument. Both machines/companies are great. Choices are great.
3d printed parts are a nogo as well on a 2k machine⦠If you always print >2 materials the XL might be a better option. But over all, the XL just seems outdated. Anyway; I donāt care what other people are buying; Iām happy with my X1C and my H2D should arrive next week.
Pc-cf parts > injection molded parts anyway. The parts are posted on printables. You can print them out of pps if you wanted. Or whatever color scheme you want. Also makes it easy for people to modify them.
The market is moving toward toolchangers and idex.
Have you checked out the bondtech indx? Or the xtool/snapmaker toolchanger?
I love my x1cās. just received my first h2d today. Havnt opened it up yet, but the laser looks beautiful. The big filter is heavy. Probably means its built well, but havnt opened it yet.
I agree about the 2+ colors. I only use the xl for multicolor because its slower for single color.
The XL is objectively a less advanced machine, less refined, but itās a good machine for a certain niche of work. The H2D covers different territory and is the better machine for most users, if their needs canāt be met with the P1S/X1C (which actually do cover most needs).
The lack of a proper enclosure is a killer. Hopefully version 2 is just a huge core 1 with 5 heads
The $5k on the H2D would include shipping taxes and import duties as they ship locally. The prusa is $3500 plus plus. Im not sure what it ends up being but its a not a fair comparison of price without using the final prices. Im contemplating the xl or the h2d and the xl for me is coming out to be more expensive. But then again, i am also adding the enclosure and its a 3 head version. Prices for these printers have gone out of whack. Waiting on someone to create a toolchanger printer with the bondtech system they recently launched. Looks promising.
I agree 100% on all of that. I only brought up prices as a response.
How do you get the H2Dās price to $5k? If youāre comparing the laser version to the kit version of the XL without an enclosure, thatās a bit unfair.
StreetSports isnāt comparing price, is saying āI spent A LOT on H2D, more than what fully equipped Prusa XL costsā to shut down āfanboy argumentsā. Itās not comparison, itās justification for āI know my stuff and Iāve put my money where my mouth isā
I just spent 5k on a h2d setup with 2 nozzles on 1 head(with needed filter, nozzles, vision plate, ams etc).
What he said. The āneeded filterā means that he actually bought the air purifier alongside a bunch of filters + HF nozzles, etc. hence the HD2 Laser Full Combo + many accessories in order to manage to reach the 5K figure. Thatās what he compares directly to the 3.5K XL + 5 toolheads. Thereās no other logical explanation.
Do we have a definative answer on if the BL Smoke Purifier is able to filter the VOCs well enough from ASA/ABS to print inside and not have to worry?
The smoke purifier contains a charcoal filter stage that is meant for filtering VOCās.
Iām not sure the air has enough time in the charcoal filter to filter out all VOCās before exiting the purifier. There isnāt any data provided by Bambu in regards to filter efficiency, so itās hard to say without someone with a AQ meter measuring the output while printing ABS to see.
Yeah, thanks. I keep checking youtube to see if anyone has done a proper test lol
Price cope is real here. I was just talking about different form factors because I like the whole hobby. Only brought up what i paid to show that they are both out of reach for most people. As a response to the other poster bring it into the conversation. If anybody want to talk about form factor and possible future machines, Im down for normal people talk.
