Y-Axis Linear Bearings Noise

Hello,

Loving my H2D, been printing non-stop since I got it a week ago, but have a question for other H2D owners:

The movement on the Y-axis (with the linear bearings) is loud relative to the rest of the machine, especially when moving long distances. The X-axis is basically silent (I know, it’s different, being a linear rail), but I would expect the amount of noise generated by a Y movement to be similar. To be clear - it’s not grinding - but it isn’t smooth either. Are you guys experiencing the same thing?

I was printing a large circular object yesterday that covered most of the plate, and when the printer really got moving on the perimeters, it was really noticeable. Just want to make sure this isn’t normal before I start trying to lubricate, etc.

Uh oh. Shipping unlubricated linear guides is a common oversight/shortcut in 3D printers. For the y bearings I’m not sure if it is possible to put them together unlubricated, but maybe?

Yeah, i got the same issue. Y-axis makes alot more noise than my A1.
i had hoped, that the H2D in that pricerange was going to be more quite.
I really hope theres a fix to this, having it going in my living room.

@RichWP I’m having the same issue. When it accelerates on a large object it makes a loud noise. Did you figure it out?

it’s totally normal for core xy machines, but you can apply some oil to the rods as well if you want to.

it’s totally normal. but if you’re worried, apply some oil on the smooth rods.

The Y axis is loud. The X1-c and p1 machines are the same way. It’s normal. As long is it’s not making inconsistent crunching noises like there’s rocks in it.

Can’t really compare them to the A series y axis because even though they both use guide rods, the A series uses rollers instead of bearings.

Thanks. No crunching sound. Just loud compared to X and Z.

No problem. Yea, it’s normal. If you want it quieter you can turn down the travel speed since that’s usually when it makes most of the noise.

Thanks @Qjo - I have another “sound” issue if you could take a look at I’d appreciate it: H2D MC? Fan running when device is idle - #2 by hotellonely
